Cavs 2010-11 season (official thread)

I said before the season that the best thing that could happen for the Cavs would be to get a high draft pick in this draft. I think they have a few good pieces to build around, which they can develop in Scott's system this season. I don't think they need another superstar like Lebron, but they need a star player of some type, which you can only get in the top of the draft.
Jamison will be gone as soon as they find someone to take his contract. I doubt they will expect much in return for him. Mo would probably be the next on the list if they can find a good deal for him. It will probably take a great deal for the Cavs to move Andy. I wouldn't even think about moving Andy except that I have the suspicion that he might only have 2-3 good years left on him so it would be better to get something for him in his prime if it's the right deal.
I can see the Cavs being the Nets of this season. They have the players to be decent, but just don't win many games. On the other hand Scott's system could click, they start playing good D, and they win 40+ games.

i think if were hovering around the #8 seed for the playoffs, myself, ticket holders, and other fans will be satisfied with this year...we could still get a high draft pick even if we are the 9th worst team in the NBA when its all said and done because of the lottery...i think last night showed that jamison is expendable and has nothing to do with the future of this team...like tsteele said trade him to whoever will take him...while 31 points is awesome for hickson, his 4 Rebounds were not...hopefully he steps his rebounding game up because we need that especially on the offensive side...as ive said before, Mo, Jamison, Verajo, Parker (please god), and Moon should all be trade bait who will ever make or take offers for them...hopefully by midseason Eyenga is more developed and possibly able to come up from the D-league so he can get some experience playing in the big league also

The offense looked pretty efficient last night once Mo got on the court. Boobie played awful but he and Mo together looked fluid and created a lot of shots.

Anthony Parker is awful in this system. He kills grass with the basketball, the ball sticks in his hands, he has no ability to get the ball to the hoop, and if his jumper isn't dropping he brings zero to the court. I'd arther start Sessions at the 3 than watch Parker kill a fast-break b/c he can't dribble.

If Hickson can continue to knock down that 18 foot jumper, he'll be an All-Star by next year. Damn he looked smooth offensively last night. But that only means he'll score 10 in their next game and be completely unfocused.

Well the Heat could probably use a stand around shooter. :p

Hollinger's automated daily power rankings are finally out. They vary quite a bit early in the season but it's still interesting. It basically calculates the average point differential for every team based on who you've played and with a home/away adjustment. So beating the T-Wolves by 20 for example would be worth about the same as beating the Spurs by 1 because thus far, the Spurs have been 19 points per game better.

http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/powerrankings

It's normalized so that the average team's rating is 100.0

1st - 112.7 Heat
2nd - 110.3 Lakers
...
21st - 96.3 Cavs
...
29th - 89.7 Pacers
30th - 83.0 T-Wolves ()

One thing I like to see this year is that the minutes are being spread out better than they have in the past. You can blame Mike Brown or Lebron, but Andy is the only one that is getting more than 30 minutes a game right now. I'm hoping that his minutes are inflated due to the Jamison injury because I don't think Andy can handle 35 minutes a game for a whole season. I think this will keep the Cavs fresh and quick for the whole season. It's nice to have a real coach, but it's too bad that it was a year too late.

i would like to see scott get both jamison and hickson on the floor more often...hes still mixing and matching the lineup to see which lineups work better with others but the jamison/hickson one is one i would actually like to see more

On this day in sports history....

In 1970 -- Cleveland Cavaliers got their 1st NBA victory (11th game), beating Portland 105-103
