Cavs 2010-11 season (official thread)

No way the Cavs would ever pick up Ellis. He's your classic "numbers guy". Looks good when you look at the traditional numbers but he's barely even average when you break it down. Based on the past moves by the Cavs (they have advanced stat geeks on the staff), they sniff these things out and would never touch him unless it was an unbelievable deal.

i wouldnt go as far as to say that monta is barely average, he fits perfect in the offense he plays in and also gets 40+ mins per game...i also think in a offense like what coach scott runs ellis would be a great fit...never said the cavs would trade for him or we would take him...the guy is not a team player and has other issues...but for a SG that would fit perfect in the cavs offensive system i would look at ellis or curry in a perfect dream world

If you look at his production on a per possession basis he is literally barely league average according to most "advanced stat" metrics. Hollinger for instance normalizes his numbers so that 15.0 is the league average (with most all-stars landing in the 24-30 range) and Ellis was 16.7 last year when he averaged 25.5 ppg. I can't disagree with your main point though, which is he would fit well in the Cavs system. And it's not like the Cavs are loaded with SGs that are above league average, so even if the stats I'm quoting are true, your point still remains that he would probably be an upgrade.

Looks like Andy won't play today because his dad is having heart surgery. It will be interesting to see how they work the bench with only one true big. Do they start Jamison or Hollins? Powe and/or Samuels should see some minutes.

The good thing is they are playing Toronto. What they SHOULD do is start Jamison since he should be able to handle Reggie Evans easily and Hickson should be able to handle Bargnani since he is more of an outside player.

If this was Mike Brown he wouldn't start Jamison stating "He wants Jamison to get use to coming off the bench" or some other BS. Will be interesting to see what Scott does.

I saw an article that said Hollins, but there is a difference between who starts and who plays. Mike Brown would have started Powe so that he didn't mess up his rotations.

another night, another loss

im beginning to think this team is going to be fighting for a top 5 draft pick

smashed on the road by a Toronto team that is not very good at all

home meltdown against the Kings

and tonight a lack luster home performance double digit loss to the Hawks

they had a 1 point lead in the 4th and were only down by 3 with about 4 minutes left. hardly lack luster. this team simply doesn't have the talent. moon and parker at the wings are absolutely terrible. and, as hard as it is to believe, jawad williams is worse. hickson had a drew gooden type game tonight, but still made dumb mistakes when it mattered. Sessions has shown himself to be a backup pg more than a starter.

with a healthy and interested antawn jamison, this is probably a 30 win team. that's bad. cleveland needs to hope for some draft lottery luck to get harrison barnes or perry jones.

if they are going to suck that might as well go for it all IMO and get a franchise type player with a top 5 (or better top 3) draft pick

30 wins probably puts us at the #8-10 pick, the Clippers won 29 and picked 8th and the Pacers won 32 and picked 10th in this past years draft........you can get a good player with an 8-10 pick, but it is more than likely not going to be a franchise type player you can land with 1-5

i honestly think if they can find anyone that wants him, antawn will be traded. the team does have a decent supporting cast in some areas, but they lack a true scorer and a legit center. I love AV as much as the next guy, but if someone is willing to pay a premium for him, send him out too.
