Cavs 09-10 Season (official thread)

Too many missed free throws again down the stretch, two by Parker and one by Big Z. You could tell Utah had the home clock advantage. On one inbound play where Parker was fouled, only .2 seconds come off the damn clock, and when Big Z got fouled only.3 seconds came off only after Lebron argues for the other .1 sec. How can commentators claim that .2 seconds isn't long enough time to catch and shoot, yet Parker can catch an inbounds pass, dribble, turn away from a double team, only to be fouled in the process, and only .2 seconds come off the clock? Total Bull!!

I only watched the first half, but it seemed like they weren't calling any fouls on the Jazz. After that I knew it would be a tough one to win. Why does it never seem like the Cavs get help from the refs? The only game I can think of that was remotely close was when the refs swallowed their whistles in the Lakers game, but even then they were fair both ways. The Cavs realized what was happening and played up for it while the Lakers whined about it.

the cavs have definitely gotten the short end of the officiating stick during this entire western road trip. last night was pathetic, from clock management, down to letting boozer throw forearm shivers on offense all night and not get called, while shaq farts while dribbling and immediately gets whistled.

That was a legendary 4th quarter by LeBron. Too bad it was all for nothing. I can understand Z missing a free throw. He came in cold off the bench and his FT shooting has suffered all year as he's adjusted to his new role. Parker has to make his - there are no excuses in my mind. He also has to run that kid off the three-pointer and make him either use the rest of the clock trying to find a shot, or at least put up a two-pointer instead. Parker just went straight up and tried not to foul. It's too bad - the Cavs played some great defense down the stretch, but some missed FTs and a less than stellar defensive play at the buzzer let it slip away.

There were alot of things that stopped the Cavs from winning the game. Like mentioned the clock and refs were terrible, especially with shaq. Free throws were bad but the Jazz missed some to let us back in the game. The Korver hit a fadeaway over the backboard which if he could hit again with another ten shots i would eat my shorts. Then this rookie from the d-league swishes a fadeaway contested 3 at the buzzer. What are the chances?

But the reason the Cavs lost the game is really tied most to one number... 23. And no that has nothing to do with lebron's number. That's how many turnovers the Cavs had, and it is holding them back right now. They need to cut down on turnovers, because wasted possessions are going to haunt them in the playoffs. They have too many good shooters and finishers at the rim to be turning the ball over that much and expecting to win on a consistent basis.

Well, he is a very large man. It's probably a public health issue.

Do you really think they are that far off with the current roster? I think they have the makeup that could win it all with no changes. Unless the Wizards are willing to give away Jamison or the Raptors are willing to move Bosh I'm willing to stick with what they have.
I will agree that they are not that far off with the current roster for the regular-season but when it comes to playoff time I really think they need an upgrade at the 4 position. I will grant you that JJ is a very nice young athletic player but I don't know if I want him starting when it comes to playoff time. I would easily give them up for a player of Jamison's quality assuming that we can get Z back. I would also put a package deal together for Murphy if the Jamison deal fell through.

As I stated, this roster is fine for the regular-season but everyone knows when the playoffs come so does the intensity. We are so close to a title why not take the chance and pull the trigger this year. I mean how long are we going to wait.

Here's my forecast:
Wizards trade Jamison for Z - even up
Wizards cut Z to save money (especially cap tax)
Z waits required 30 days
Cavs re-sign Z
all is well in Cleveland Cavs land
and playoffs here we come
with guns loaded...
oh sorry... that's what Arenas said

That would be the best case for the Cavs, but I'd feel bad for JJ going from starter to DNP. Powe would have a hard time finding minutes when he returns as well. This would be a great move to match up with the Celts.

Lebron just picked up his second foul on an absolutely horrendous call.

Wow.

The player double clutched, after clutching a second time Lebron did not TOUCH him. The ref was right next to both of them, waited until the shot hit off the rim, then blew his whistle and called the foul.

Unreal. I fucking hate the NBA. This West Coast officiating has been criminal.
