LeBron: Cavs will welcome West

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio (AP) -- Lebron James says the Cavaliers will welcome back Delonte West, whenever he comes back.

West was absent from training camp for the second straight day Wednesday while he deals with personal issues. Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry has spoken at length with West, coach Mike Brown said, adding that the absence is unexcused and that West will be fined.
Ferry declined to meet with reporters Wednesday.

"We've been around this block before with Delonte, so we know how to handle it," James said. "I'm sure he'll be OK. Basketball has nothing to do with what's going on. He needs to take as much time as he needs, and when he comes back, we'll welcome him as we've always done."

James said he called West but didn't get an answer.

After missing the first two days of training camp, Delonte West returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday.

West practiced with his teammates on Thursday after missing the first four practices. West called the absences unexcused, but said he's been in contact with general manager Danny Ferry.

West did not speak to the media after Thursday's practice.
West could still face a league suspension after he was recently arrested for gun possession in Maryland.

Remember everyone (myself included) bashing the Eyenga pick when it first happened? Ferry might have something... Eyenga just won a dunk contest in Spain. His dunk that won it... dunking while grabbing a teddy bear off the rim with his mouth.

Oh you want a video? The teddy bear dunk is the very last one.

I think most people figured out it was a good pick after summer league when Eyenga was probably already good enough to make the team. He'll be a nice addition when he comes back to the US in a year or two. I think my first impression was WTF, but I am long since over it, same with JJ.

Another thing I've noticed is the depth. West hasn't played today, but if you make him the backup PG you have West, Boobie, Moon, JJ, and Z. I bet there is a team with a worse starting lineup than that. That leaves Green off the bench and Powe coming along mid-season.

I like how JJ is looking so far. Energy, athleticism, and a shot. You can tell there's a lot of rust, but this team has a lot of potential once they all click.

JJ looked pretty good again last night, 15 points 7 boards in 29 minutes

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Olympiakos

Shaq

Versus 'Baby Shaq'

sofoklis-schortsanitis-olympiacos.jpg

Tonight's pre-season game at the 'Q' will be international dream matchup for fans around the world. The Cavs will host Greek A1 & Euroleague club Olympiakos of Pireus as part of the Euroleague America tour. Yes Olympiakos is the Greek team you may have heard of that has been signing everyone and their mom. They have one of the richest owners in the euroleague. This is the guy who offered Koufos millions after he committed to tOSU. Last year they acquired former Atlanta Hawk Josh Childress. Since then they have added former Rocket SG Von Wafer, and former Denver Nugget Linus Kliza.

But currently their best player is big greek Sofoklis Schortsanitis or 'Big Sofo'..his nickname is Baby Shaq. He's the guy who repeatedly hurt Team USA in 2006 (they got big time revenge in 2008 though). Sofo has slimmed down to a trim and comfortable 280. He moves well for his size, good post moves down low. (scored 16 vs the Spurs last Fri in a loss..rookie DeJuan Blair didn't back down). Things could get very interesting for the 15 to 20 minutes that Shaq plays when they matchup. (I think Shaq will be the only one able to truly body up on this guy). The big man warmed up a little bit in the last game..I believe he scored 12 points vs the Bobcats.

I'm also glad to read that Hickson & Jackson look good so far. These guys have to show up tonight.

Some clips from the Shaq vs Sofo matchup from this week. ( I know it's early, but I a have special feeling about this edition of the Cavs, especially of Shaq can stay fresh)

I watched that game, as well as the Wed. contest vs Washington. And JJ Hickson was exactly how Exhawg described. This guy is a livewire, very active around the rim. He also looks more comfortable with the mid range J & face up game now. The Cavs frontcourt depth should be extremely nice when Leon Powe gets back. We are now looking at Shaq/Big Z/Andy, two improving young PFs in JJ & D-Block, and a very solid player in Powe. Moreover, I really really like the addition of Anthony Parker, and to a lesser extent Jamario Moon. AP is a good shooter, has some wing size and plays very good D for his age.

LeBron, teammates being treated for flu

LeBron, teammates being treated for flu

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio (AP) -- LeBron James didn't get any sympathy from his teammates when he came back to work after spending two days sick in bed.

They ran the other way.

"You come back around and everyone is like, 'Ugh, you got the cooties,"' James said Thursday. "They don't want to be around you."
A source tells TNT's David Aldridge that James is not suffering from the H1N1, or Swine flu, virus. James missed Wednesday's preseason game with Washington after coming down with flu-like symptoms, and he and fellow Cavs Darnell Jackson and Coby Karl tested positive for Influenza A this week.

The H1N1 virus is a specific strain of Influenza A. The team treated the three players, as well as the rest of the team, as if they had been exposed to H1N1. Three other players have also come down with the flu. James, Jackson and Karl are all traveling with the team for weekend games in San Antonio and Dallas, and The Associated Press reported Thursday that James may play in one of the games.

RealGM: Basketball Wiretap Archives: Cavs Interested In Jackson

According to sources, the Cavaliers do have an interest in Stephen Jackson and have had some internal discussions about trading for him.

The Warriors are seeking a big man in return, which is something the Cavaliers don't have a surplus they are willing to part with at this time.

Cleveland is expected to continue to monitor the situation.

The remaining seasons on Jackson's contract are reportedly not a huge concern for the franchise.
