Cavs 09-10 Season (official thread)

As of today, Orlando is the best team in basketball. In their last 30 games, they're 27-3, with an average margin of victory of 14 ppg. 18 of the 30 have been against playoff teams. I'm not sure anyone wants to play them right now.

I want the Cavs to. I'm sure the Lakers and the Suns would rather face the winner of the Cavs/Celts series. I still believe that the Cavs are built to play the Magic. We won't see what they can do until they get to that matchup.

As far as not buying into Orlando because they "looked good" against some lesser competition...that's absurd. They haven't just looked good they've dominated like a championship team should. Oh BTW they just set an NBA record for ppg difference in a 4 series sweep. Hard to ignore the facts and decide to just stick my head in the sand and hope the Cavs can turn it back on.

I'm still waiting for you to refute either of the following propositions: (a) the Bobcats are the worst team that made the playoffs and (b) that the Hawks have anyone (seriously, name one person) that can even come close to matching up against Howard. Until then, I think you shouldn't book your tickets to their championship parade.

Don't buy into the fact that the series is now a best of 3 and the Celtics are hungrier. Because we all know the Cavs can just turn it on whenever they want. Right?

Are you directing this at me? If so, I'd ask you to please direct me to a post where I said that or anything remotely close to that.

I agree, the teams are evenly matched position for position. But Orlando has been executing better the last portion of the season. And that's what it comes down to when teams are evenly stacked.

I don't like people talking about Orlando when the Cavs haven't even taken care of the Celtics yet. I really agree with Crazybucksfan40, the Cavs are making things more complicated than they need to be on offense. Play solid D, be opportunistic with the fast break, in the halfcourt Lebron has to set the tempo and tone from the get go. Don't lob the ball into Shaq for the first five possessions instead put Lebron in the post against the smaller defenders , or put Paul Pierce and KG in the pick and roll with Jamison. If Lebron attacks and sets the tone and is making his mid range then we can handle Boston no problem. The biggest problem other than what was just mentioned is the the attiude, focus, agrressiveness, and energy have just been lacking in the losses. In the wins Lebron has set the tone early and the team has followed. Its time for Lebron to step up and demand a better overall effort from his teammates then go out on the court and lead them.

First of all I don't need to refute anything so get over yourself. The bobcats and hawks both suck were in agrement there.

My point was the Magic look better than good in these playoffs and haven't taken a single night off. They've been dominating lesser opponents like they should. My hope is the Cavs get through this series and are battle tested but the every-other-game Jekyll and Hyde BS is getting old.

No the last part wasn't directed at you so stop taking everything so personal. It was a general sarcastic statement for anyone to respond too. Because if the Cavs are going to turn it on, now would be the time and don't let up.

It would sure beat going down in the second round.
AND THIS.

Handle the Celts first and ride that momentum into the Conf finals. That's all I'm saying.

LeBron in a high-energy, good mood this morning. For whatever that is worth. #cavs about 2 hours ago via TweetDeck

and like ive been saying i think if we beat boston then orlando will be the best team we face the rest of the way....and the reason they have been crushing teams is because both charlotte and atlanta are terrible in the halfcourt offense....atlanta more then charlotte...orlando lives and dies by the 3 so i think this will be a key factor in our series if and when we play them

I never thought the Cavs' ability to get out of the second round would depend on what kind of mood LeBron was in. I kinda took his level of performance for granted.

neither did i but if youve watched lebron alot, depending on his mood, he can start firing up unnecessary shots and take plays off on defense...im not talking 4 minute chunks but i know this to be true...and i thought it was good in game 3 that kendric perkins actually hard fouled him near his elbow in the first 5 minutes of the game which just pissed lebron off and we all saw the outcome of that

If you think you don't need to refute anything, then maybe you shouldn't quote my posts, particularly while not responding to the points made in them.

My point was the Magic look better than good in these playoffs and haven't taken a single night off. They've been dominating lesser opponents like they should. My hope is the Cavs get through this series and are battle tested but the every-other-game Jekyll and Hyde BS is getting old.

There are three good teams in the East this year (Cavs, Celtics, Magic) and then a bunch of also-rans. Last year, the Cavs were the fortunate one of the three not to have to play the other two until the conference finals, and they took advantage of it--sweeping their way through the first two rounds while the Magic won in 7 games against the Celtics. Then look at what happened. This year, the Magic were the fortunate one not to have to play the other two until the conference finals, and they similarly took advantage of it--sweeping their way through the first two rounds while the Cavs and Celtics are slugging it out. So let's just say that if history teaches us anything, it's at best premature to think that the Magic should be penciled into the NBA Finals right now.

In short, I believe you're incorrect in saying that the Cavs are taking every other night off with their "Jekyll and Hyde BS." The Cavs, quite simply, are not playing the "lesser competition" that the Magic are.
