Cavs 08-09 Season - Central Div Champs (official thread)

I don't think that is definite yet and sly Doc Rivers might just hold him out for the first round.

CBSSports.com wire reports

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Celtics star Kevin Garnett, the centerpiece of Boston's 2008 championship and a key to its hopes of a repeat, could miss the playoffs because of a knee injury that has limited him to four games over the final two months of the season.

Celtics coach Doc Rivers said Thursday that Garnett will not be ready for Game 1 against the Chicago Bulls and possibly won't be back at all.

"It's not official that he's out for the entire playoffs, but it's official as far as I'm concerned," Rivers said before practice at the team's workout facility. "I just don't see how. I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see it."

I'll believe it when I see it (in regards to KG missing the entire playoffs).

KG isn't the type of competitor to let a sore knee hold him out of a conference finals. Remember, this is the same guy who made a teammate cry on the bench during a meaningless regular season game b/c of a lack of effort.

True, but it's obvious he's nowhere near 100%. He wasn't particularly effective in the 4 games he came back for before being shut down again, and it doesn't look like he's improved much, if at all.

Congrats Mike. With as much crap as most of us have given him over the past few years he has really turned into a good coach now that he has the right mix of players. Hopefully he buys Lebron and Mo something for being the 2 biggest reasons for him winning.

Yes, congratulations. I too was pretty hard on Mike Brown in the past, but this award is well deserved. The guys he really needs to buy something for are Danny Ferry and John Kuester. The decision to finally have an "offensive coordinator" was as big as any move made in the NBA all year. I read that Brown was not too happy when that decision was made, but he obviously bought in and it has paid off nicely so far.

There's no way to really measure this, but I'm also convinced that Mike Brown's individual improvement as a coach and leader won probably 5-6 games for this team that they would've lost last year.
