Cavs 08-09 Season - Central Div Champs (official thread)

I hope Philly leaves feeling good about this one. Have fun getting swept in the first round.
We are going to need a lot of these bench guys at some point of the playoffs so it was good that they were able to knock some rust off tonight.

I guess Mike Brown thought it was trivial, but I am very dissappointed that the Cavs didn't win, and secure the best home-court win record. LeBron is strong as an ox, and West and Williams are still young. Seems needless to let your place in the record book slide when Cleveland won't play again until the weekend.

It's not that the starters needed rest - it's to prevent getting some BS injury in a game that means nothing. It was also an opportunity to hopefully get some bench guys going that this team is going to need in this run. If Gibson and Wally can carry some momentum from this performance into the playoffs then it was worth sacrificing the record

As for the FT disparity - An advantage for the Sixers was to be expected. The Cavs had scrubs and jump shooters on the floor for the most part, so you're not going to draw a lot of fouls. At the other end, these weren't their best defenders so where guys like LeBron and the others who sat can rely on their superior size, strength, quickness, IQ or experience to defend, the guys who played were more likely to get beat and resort to fouling. Still, almost 4:1 is ridiculous.

The record would have been nice, but in the end that's all it would have amounted to. If they win the rest of their home games we'll all forget about them coming up short on that.

agreed, no one talks about or cares about the Patriots going undefeated in the regular season because they lost the super bowl

Are you kidding? I talk about it all the time to the Pats fans I know - especially the part about all the kids in Guatemala wearing Patriots 19-0 t-shirts. It serves to remind them of how bad they choked!

That record means precisely jack shit. It's a luxury. The record would have been a nice little sidebar, but Mike Brown would look like a fool if at some point during the game, LBJ or Z or Mo wound up on the court clutching a knee or an ankle. Remember how your heart sunk into your stomach when LBJ collided with that ref during the Dallas game (presuming you were watching)? That kind of shit could happen at any time, especially in a game where you know the Sixers are gonna be giving it their all and could get physical. I'm not a fan of sitting players, but I understand it...

Well with Garny out, looks like we might get the Magic. Thoughts?

I'd prefer the geriatric C's, but homecourt is big against the Magic.
