Cavs 07-08 Season Thread

I knew it was just a matter of time before those comments started after seeing that...

I truly believe that LBJ won't go anywhere and will play his whole career or all but maybe the last few years in Cleveland...

We are making moves to get guys to help LBJ...

LeBron on whether he?s ever thought of leaving the Cavs: ?You don?t think about it, I am in a great situation. I am home, my family gets to see me play, the organization has been nothing up great to me I have no reason to think about going anywhere else at this point.?

Quit worrying about the man leaving, just sit back and enjoy every chance you get to watch this man play. He is amazing.

NEW YORK: His shoes got their attention; his game won their hearts.
LeBron James is now officially a Madison Square Garden legend, taking his place among the elite basketball talents of all-time and numerous other athletes and performers who have left their mark at the world's most famous arena.
No matter what happens the rest of his career, his performance Wednesday will be part of the lore in basketball's capital. James wowed the fickle Big Apple crowd with 50 points and a near triple-double in leading the Cavaliers to a 119-105 win over the Knicks. It got him a standing ovation in the closing seconds, an honor rarely seen for visiting players.
''This ranks real high right now,'' James said of the performance in the context of his career. ''I've dreamed about playing well in this building. To
get a standing ovation in the greatest basketball arena in the world, it is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.''

Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron James relishes his 50 points

Thursday, March 06, 2008Mary Schmitt Boyer
Plain Dealer Reporter
New York -- Nothing on Broadway could top the show LeBron James put on before an adoring crowd Wednesday night in Madison Square Garden.
Donning his special New York Yankees Nike sneakers, James finished with 50 points, including seven 3-pointers, plus 10 assists and 8 rebounds to lead the Cavaliers to a 119-105 victory over the New York Knicks. Even he put it near the top of his all-time great performances.
"I've dreamed about playing well in this building, and it has over taken anything I ever dreamed," James said as the Cavs won their third straight to improve to 35-26. "To get a standing ovation in the greatest basketball arena in the world is a dream come true for me. It's one of the best things to ever happen to me."

James was even unfazed as a young man in a Cavs white No. 23 jersey ran across the baseline toward the Cavs' bench near the end of the game. After he reached James and had a brief conversation, a phalanx of security guards escorted him from the court.
"It was a great feeling, when you get a fan to come down there and express the way he feels about you," James said.

Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron James overshadowed by Marbury's return

Thursday, March 06, 2008Mary Schmitt Boyer
Plain Dealer Reporter
New York- Stephon Marbury stole the spotlight from LeBron James on Wednesday night.
While James is usually swamped by reporters when he comes to Madison Square Garden, much of the New York media visited the Knicks locker room instead to interview Marbury. The Knicks guard hasn't been here since his Jan. 22 left ankle surgery, apparently at the request of Knicks management, although neither Marbury nor coach Isiah Thomas would confirm that Wednesday.
Reporters tried to draw James into the discussion, bringing up a comment he made earlier this season, when there were reports the Knicks were trying to trade Marbury.
@StoryAd
"I couldn't have a guy like that on my team," said James.
Asked Wednesday what he meant by that comment, James said, "To me it's always team first. That's how I look at things."
Basically, though, James declined to be drawn into any discussion on Marbury or the Knicks apparent decision to ask him to stay away.

LeBron James scores 50 points to lead Cavs past Knicks
Thursday, March 6, 2008
By BRIAN MAHONEY
AP Basketball Writer

NEW YORK The "MVP!" chants weren't enough for one fan, who had to come on the court to show LeBron James how much he appreciated the superstar's spectacular performance.

That only made one of the best nights of James' career even better.

James had 50 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds to win over the Madison Square Garden crowd and lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 119-105 victory over the New York Knicks on Wednesday night.

He shot 16-of-30 from the field, including 7-of-13 from 3-point range, in his second 50-point game this season. He exited with fans standing and chanting "MVP!" in the final minute. One fan in a Cavaliers jersey ran onto the floor toward the Cleveland bench, even saying a few words to James, before being turned away by security and arrested.

A fan approaches LeBron James on the court on Wednesday night.

NO ONE IN a Knicks uniform could stop LeBron James on Wednesday night, but a fan wearing a King James jersey did his best to get in the superstar's way.
With 23 seconds left in Cleveland's 119-105 win at the Garden last night and James headed to the bench, Anthony Erskine, 17, of Mount Vernon, dressed in a white Cavs No. 23 jersey, sprinted from the Seventh Ave. side of the floor to the Cavs' sideline and made a bee line for James. Some on the Cleveland bench, including coach Mike Brown, were startled, but not James.
"It was a great feeling, to get a fan to come down there and express the way he feels about you," James said after he scored 50 points. "He (said) he loves the way I play, I was his favorite player.
"I respect him, I respect his pride, and for him to come out there and tell me something like that face-to-face, it's like an unbelievable thing - it never happens."

Not even if Derek Jeter asked you to play here?

On the night LeBron James lit up Madison Square Garden with a 50-point performance that was oh so Jordanesque, the question had to be asked
OK, it really didn't, but someone asked it anyway.
That someone was fellow Fixer Andrew Marchand of ESPN Radio.
"LeBron," Marchand started, "have you ever thought about being a Knick?"
"No," LeBron replied and then chuckled. The rest of the media then broke into laughter.
LeBron then said of the loaded question, "That might have been worse than the fan running out on the court."
