Cavs 07-08 Season Thread

Still holding out hope, but watching Noah and thomas do us like they did tonight it is hard to hold out much hope for the playoffs...

Hope we can get it together and soon...What happened to Wild Things energy, he shouldn't be getting destroyed by those guys...

We have Ben, Z, Smith, and Wild Thing...Those guys should eat those two alive instead it is the other way around...

Bulls trample passive Cavs all over court LeBron scores 24 in first, then Cavaliers sit back, relax and get stomped on offense and defense
By Brian Windhorst

CHICAGO: It is little wonder the teams behind the Cavaliers in the standings are hoping to face them in the playoffs.
Their unstable play and focus would seem quite tantalizing to any opponent right now. The latest display came Friday night at the hands of the Chicago Bulls, who became another team to master the Cavs in a 100-95 victory.
Make that remaster, since they did the same thing eight days previously in Cleveland. And Friday's final margin doesn't fairly represent the contest.
The sixth loss in the past nine games ended up not hurting the Cavs in the standings. The Washington Wizards lost in Detroit, and the Philadelphia 76ers lost in Indiana, keeping the Cavs' lead on the No. 4 playoff seed at two games.

After LeBron James' stellar first quarter, Cavs fall asleep in loss to Bulls

Saturday, April 12, 2008Branson Wright
Plain Dealer Reporter
Chicago- One of the unwritten rules of playoff basketball is to knock the oppo nent on his rear if he continues to dunk in your face.
Apparently, the Cavaliers chose to ignore this rule against the Chicago Bulls on Friday night, and now questions have surfaced with the postseason looming.
"The layups and dunks disappointed me the most," said LeBron James, who finished with 34 points. "I'm never disappointed in my teammates, but we have to give someone a hard foul who has four or five dunks in the third quarter. They just totally dominated us. It was embarrassing."
@StoryAd
The Cavs' weak interior defense, which led to a second-half dunk-a-thon, produced a 100-95 loss to the Bulls at the United Center.
The Cavs maintained their two-game lead over the Washington Wizards for the No. 4 seed in the upcoming playoffs. The Wizards lost at Detroit on Friday.

Cavaliers guard Devin Brown excited for team's playoff run

Saturday, April 12, 2008

Chicago - Cavaliers guard Devin Brown has not participated in the postseason since the 2004-05 season. That brief drought will end next week, and Brown can't wait for the playoffs to start.
"It was hard," Brown said about not playing in the play offs. "As soon as the season was over the last couple of years, guys were looking to go home. I don't want to be a part of that."
Prior to missing the postseason the last two seasons, Brown was a member of the San Antonio Spurs' 2005 NBA championship team. He also went to the playoffs in 2004 with San Antonio.
@StoryAd
"I know how important this time of year is," Brown said. "I can't wait. I'm excited. I wish we could get these last regular-season games over. And the way this season has been for us, we'll have a lot of eyes [on us] when the playoffs start."
Standings watch:
The Cavs came into Friday night's game as the No. 4 seed. If the season ended prior to Friday's game, the Cavs would play the No. 5 Washington Wizards in the first round.
But that could change.

LeBron James has 24 points in first quarter, but Cavs still lose
Saturday, April 12, 2008
BY ANDREW SELIGMAN
AP SPORTS WRITER

CHICAGO All LeBron James wanted to talk about were the dunks and layups the Cleveland Cavaliers allowed, not the dazzling array he produced.

He delivered plenty, but he couldn't deliver a victory.

While James made it look easy early on, tying his team record by scoring 24 of his 34 points in the first quarter, the Chicago Bulls eventually found a clear path to the rim and beat Cleveland, 100-95, Friday night.

The Cavaliers are trying to lock down the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference and home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs, but they stumbled against a team that can only hope for a little lottery luck. With a two-game lead over Washington in the Eastern Conference and a three-game advantage over Philadelphia when the night began, Cleveland saw an 8-point lead after the first quarter turn into a 53-47 halftime deficit.

3 left, one against the Heat, who if we don't beat by 35- I'd be worried- the 6ers who everybody thinks has a hot hand, and will give Detroit trouble (yea, right)- and of course, Detroit.

I say we win 2/3, lock up 4th, and rest starters vs. the Pistons. Although, 3/3 is possible, with Detroit resting as well.

Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James likely to win NBA scoring title

Sunday, April 13, 2008Branson Wright
Plain Dealer Reporter
LeBron James will become the latest Cavalier to finish on top of a major individual statistical category when he officially wins the NBA scoring title once the regular season ends week.
James, who will be the first Cavalier to lead the league in scoring, is averaging 30.3 points a game. He has been a front-runner in this category for much of the season. But even James, who prides himself on being a pass-first, shoot-second type of player, is surprised with the scoring title.
"I try to get my teammates involved and they do a good job of playing off of me," James said. "I'm able to still create for myself. Individually for me, it's been an unbelievable year. It's team first for me and it doesn't matter what I do as an individual."
@StoryAd
It especially matters to the organization. Until the Cavs win a championship, all honors are accepted. General Manager Danny Ferry has enjoyed James' incredible season.
"He obviously means a lot more than scoring to us," Ferry said. "Before and after practice, he has worked very hard at his game. I'm really happy for him."

Playing time of the essence for Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James

Sunday, April 13, 2008
About the Cavs and LeBron's minutes ...
Every year, the Cavs say they plan to do something about LeBron James' minutes played. Every year, they don't. Every year, he is among the league leaders in minutes played. He's been in the NBA five seasons, has averaged at least 39.5 minutes a game in each of those years, playing at least 3,000 minutes a season (assuming he continues at his current place). No NBA player can make that claim. No NBA player has been on the court more in the past five years than James in terms of sheer minutes played.
THEY KEEP PLAYING AND PLAYING ...

We are just playing so poor...I hope that we plan on flipping the switch because it is almost like we are out there hustling the teams in terms of tricking them into thinking that we are not playing well...

But it does look like it is going to be Washington in the first round and the Wizards are talking shit already...Arenas had some comments today and Stephonsen called LBJ overrated...

Another poor game, but there were signs of hope with some hard defense, but still shooting poorly, not enough creating and scoring from LBJ...

Nice to see Sasha back in the lineup some...He had the dagger put back dunk...He still looks like he is not playing with energy tho...

I think they might flip the switch come playoff time...

Need to win tomorrow. I would much rather see Lebron and at least Ben sit out against the Pistons if they can lock it up tomorrow. If there isn't a switch to flip there isn't a second round in the playoffs this year.

I agree, but the Wizards are giving us motivation...They will be ready to go, especially LBJ...

Second round will bring the Celtics if we get by the Wizards and that will be extremely tough...
