Doesn't mean there's any truth to it.
Yertle;1808190; said:Almost always, when there's this much smoke, there's a fire. And are you implying that there wasn't a fire with MoC? Really? The smoke doesn't always come from the exact place where the trouble will be, but you can usually bet there's something wrong when there's this much attention.
Buckeneye;1808195; said:I'm not implying jack shit. I'm flat out saying, the allegations that MoC brought about we're a flat out lie. This has been put through the ringer millions of times. Now, what your saying is completely different and ended up being a couple years down the road.
His decision making that brought about the investigation into the university we're about NCAA violations, not about having a shit ton of fire arms and a bottle of goose.
Yertle;1808201; said:Exactly my point. There was smoke well before there was fire. Very rarely does the media jump all over someone who is truly innocent. So no, it is not completely different.
Two sources who recruit for Mississippi State said that Cecil Newton and his son, quarterback Cam Newton, admitted in separate phone conversations to a pay-for-play plan while Newton was being recruited late last year.
Mississippi State compliance officials relayed the alleged conversations to Southeastern Conference compliance officials in January, according to two other sources close to the football program.

I don't dismiss anything about shady recruiting in the south out-of-hand.SloopyHangOn;1808207; said:Just more hearsay.
The more rumors and accusations that surface the more you have to take the allegations seriously, but as of right now there's literally NOTHING official that implicates any improper conduct. Until something substantial surfaces, you have to look at this as an attempt at dragging the kid and the program through the mud.

The question that bares is: Is this just the tip of the iceburg? Once Auburn gets screwed do they let the cat out of the bag? JWins, you always seem to imply that everyone's cheating and everyone knows about it. Is it better to take the whole system down or take your turn taking the medicine? If Cam goes down for this, it will be interesting to hear what details come out (particularly if they feel someone else leaked this). This recruitment was about 1/10th of when schools courted him out of HS as a 5-star can't miss prospect.
I don't think Auburn would try to take down the system, but a jaded group surrounding Newton might. He is being singled out for something most do, and it is escalating at a suspiciously inconvenient time for Auburn & Newton chasing many trophies. If he is going to be tagged as a cheater, what reason do they have to keep their mouths shut about what happened before? Especially if they think another SEC coach was behind this?JWins, you always seem to imply that everyone's cheating and everyone knows about it.
