Meyer denies leaking Newton records, calls rumors 'ridiculous'

GAINESVILLE, Fla. --Florida coach Urban Meyer says he didn't leak any information about Auburn quarterback Cam Newton's academic record in Gainesville.

Meyer adds that no one on his staff would have leaked confidential academic information, calling it a "ridiculous claim and simply not true."

Cont'd ...

As much as I loathe whiny Boise State, it says something that, of the the three top Heisman candidates, there's is the only one to not spend any time in jail.

Agreed- although Southern Idaho State is so far from anywhere, it would be impressive if trouble could find him.

Pryor would flourish in Auburn's offense; Newton would be lost in Ohio State's offense.

The same pundits who say that Pryor will be a WR in the NFL drool over one-dimensional, one-read option QB's like Denard and Newton. Whatever.

As far as Newton "elevating his team higher", we heard the same crap about Denard in week four. Still hearing that noise now?

So, let me see if I understand your argument. The option QB's, who are also known generically as "dual-threat" QB's because they can pass AND run, are "one dimensional?" Sorry, but that logic is escaping me for some reason! :wink2:

He is calling them one dimensional in a discussion about real passing in the nfl, where you can't just tuck it and run if your primary read isn't open, and you definitely can't sprint towards the blitzer on a reverse playaction play. Defenses are too disciplined to fall for that, and you will be on a stretcher by halftime.

Denard struggles a lot when asked to make plays in the pocket, in part because he can't see, and in part because there aren't 1-3 misdirection options running the defense out of position.

Pardon me.

Of the 29 "worst offender" schools listed, the Big-10 has just as many institutions listed as the SEC - 4 each. You have Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Sparty. We have Auburn, the Poodles, Kentucky and Miss State.*

It is possible that including the "lessor" offender institutions in a list and adding it to this one would push the SEC in the win column. But as long as you are using this list to bash conferences, it would seem to be a better strategy to at least use a list where your conference does not have more major offenses than the one you are bashing.

Carry on. :p

* You win the tie breaker, though, with one more major infraction than us  (on that list of course).

But where is your clever acronym stating as such with the letters BIG TEN? :p
