:p The non-Buckeye world is screaming because of the almost assured no FTM or LOIC. One man's rape is another man's bad motel soft core porn.

The cooperation is why you were not hammered. I've never believed for one minute that your guys did not know it was wrong to sell their stuff. How they reacted after being specifically told not to makes me believe it more. But the NCAA bought that excuse, and got the number of game ineligible ban that was what most thought they deserved (even though letting them play in the Sugar Bowl was viewed as tOSU getting off too light by almost everyone. But that is equally the NCAA and B1G fault).

Your cooperation is why even when your coach lied the NCAA did not allege FTM or LOIC. Your cooperation was HUGE in the outcome. Your cooperation is damn impressive, and a real reason for everyone to think highly of your school. Good Lord, throwing Tress under the bus was not an easy thing to do. Are there programs that would shred the e-mails from the attorney? You bet your ass. If you had, and someone talked, and it was later found out that you hid them? Y'all are going bye-bye for a decade if they found that. You are playing with 70 guys and not seeing bowls. And don't think it would not have come out later. The higher ups could black mail each other with that info, and the lower level staffer that found the e-mail could hold the whole program hostage.

There is NO way to keep that secret. So you self reported. That is not why you were punished. You were punished because rules were broken. You were treated lightly (well...will be) because you self reported. Self reporting is why you will get through this in no time. Not self reporting is why USC will be [censored]ed for a decade.

Abso-F*cking-lutely!

This is assuming that the NCAA is not going to slap Ohio State with bowl bans or scholarship reductions.

We don't know do we? The NCAA can do whatever it wants to Ohio State because they have them over a barrel and the idiot players who continue to screw up only give the NCAA more leeway to make whatever decision they want.

I know that all the lawyers feel that there is no reason to believe that the NCAA will hammer Ohio State, but we never know what the NCAA is going to do. Auburn walked and we all thought they were going to get nuked.

Ohio State is feeling the effects right now and if the NCAA doesn't hand down a decision soon it will continue to feel the effects in the form of not knowing who the head coach is going to be or missing out on naming a head coach because the NCAA waits until the end of January to hand down the sanctions (or not).

But if they refuse to cooperate, then until you get the NCAA some subpoena power, you will get what you get. And if they get subpoena power, we all better hold our ankles.

Are you aware of ANY non-governmental entity which has subpoena power? How do you propose that Pandora's Box be opened?

Just because they used their fingers to check the prostate instead of whipping out their members doesn't make it any more pleasant.

The fact that they got done with this investigation so fast but still is waiting on a decision on us doesn't make me feel very confident.

Zip - I was trying to make a simple point that a failure to sanction a player or program because the NCAA lacks the resources to dig deeply into accusations (like basic deposition and subpoena power) should not be taken as the NCAA not caring - or the NCAA using a double standard.

The NCAA does not need subpoena power with Tress, he (in essence) pled guilty by virtue of his answers to the NOA. Same with the tat-5. Cam and the other Auburn guys did not plead guilty. Cam denied taking money, or knowing that his dad was paid by Auburn. Of far greater import, none of the IRS, bank/financial records supported that claim. So three things are possible: 1) Cam's dad got cold feat because of something gone wrong in the Mississippi State deal, and even though he wanted to shop Cam, at the last minute he bailed on it; or 2) They did do a money deal and were so smart about it that they did not leave a money trail - or arranged for the money to come after Cam graduated; or 3) Cam's dad was promised money by Auburn, but when they got whiff of the Bulldogs narking them out, they shut it down.

Now, as Cam was an NCAA athlete, he and his family had to cooperate. They did. They turned over phone and e-mail bank and account and IRS info. If they did not, Cam would have been ineligible, like TP. So Cam's deal is separate.

As to the other mooks, they are not current players. So if they do not cooperate, there is NOTHING the NCAA can do to get evidence if they do not cooperate. Just like the NCAA cannot make TP talk to them about memorabilia. Just like the NCAA cannot make Troy talk to them about his allusions to him taking the blame for more guys for....something. Just like the NCAA cannot make former Buckeyes who tweet that tats for stuff had gone on for years. The. NCAA. Can. Not. Make. Them. Talk.

So it is not a plot to let the SEC off. It is not the NCAA not caring. It is just the limitation of the NCAA investigatory powers that does not lead to a finding that both you and I wish they could reach. All I'm saying is that this is not some difference in treatment because the NCAA hates tOSU and loves to let the cheatin' SEC go while punishing the B1G guys.

Arguing with Buckeye paranoia... You have a long ways to go before you get accepted around here.

Or using common fucking sense.
