I have looked and can't find a way to pick up ESPN without it being an add on to cable or a streaming service. Youtube Tv is my streaming service.

If there is plan with an independent ESPN please share.
Just to clarify my concern, ESPN+ does not broadcast live sporting events. It just streams prerecorded content. I don't need that. I need to be able to watch major events, including OSU football and basketball, that are only available live on ESPN.

I saw that and it concerns me.

But the truth is I love youtube tv so much I will will have a hard time choosing between it and ESPN.

Because I really don't watch TV beyond football and maybe a local news cast here or there, myself and some friends all split $15 a month for a Youtube TV account and go under the family account share.
Generally we shut it off after the NFL draft because they're rather like minded. Most of us young(er) folks don't watch TV like our parents before us did/do. So we don't keep paying a cable bill for a service we hardly
use during the nicer months.

Can't speak enough to the convenience YT-TV offers us in that regard.

Concur. I spend the winters in Florida and when I arrive I just hook up my ROKU stick to the TV and everything I have "recorded" is right there. It is the same interface no matter where I am. All my favorites, recommendations, lists, etc.

My wife is not so hot on it because she is more of a traditional TV watcher and likes to scroll channels. I can't remember the last time I ran through channels looking for something to watch. I just tell YT-TV what I like and watch as time permits and the mood strikes me.

All that said, YT-TV (thanks for the abbreviation BTW) was easily the best streaming for sports. Certainly can't say that if they lose ESPN.

Thanks for sharing. I didn't know this, because I've never looked into subscribing to ESPN+. But, Sling has ESPN and is $10 for the first month to get me through bowl season, if necessary. I have an antenna for ABC if we need that.

Beyond that, I'm sure they'll get it figured out. Disney/ABC/ESPN is too big to lose for any amount of time.

If anyone wants to give fuboTV a try, use this referral link and get $30 off your first months bill:

https://refer.fubo.tv/x/xlUdhN

I've been extremely happy with it. Total service charge after taxes is $81.11/month. The only downside is their dispute with Turner networks that began awhile ago over pricing. Not having TNT or TBS isn't a huge concern right now because those networks' libraries are carried on other streaming services, but if the live channels don't return I'll need to find an alternative for at least the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament in March.

The flip side is that fubo does have Big Three affiliate content, so I was getting Buckeye Football Fever from WSYX this year where I was seeing dead air on Hulu. Package includes NFL Network, RedZone, MLB, NHL, NBA channels, all the ESPN networks and conference networks (yeah, even ACC and Pac-12 Networks). Also some big games are simulcast in 4k.

Catching up on this but I think ESPN+ includes any live sports broadcast across ESPN/ABC (plus hundreds of live ESPN+ events).

Maybe I just see these because I’m linked to a cable account? Would need someone else to confirm. Their launch page seems to indicate Live Sports included. https://plus.espn.com/

There’s the Disney bundle I have (Disney+ and Hulu) but there’s an option for ESPN+ only.

Update- more research on Al Gore’s machine tells me live programming is not included. Appears I only get that because of the linked cable account. Sorry guys :(

I cancelled YTTV just before The Game. Didn't even know of the Disney stuff coming up. YTTV is terrible if you travel a lot. I live on a boat so I'm always traveling, and thus, changing my watch location. YTTV just couldn't maintain my location so anything on local channel would not be available without a lot of trouble. It was really terrible and very frustrating. Many emails with technical support over two months and no resolution.

Switched to FUBO for their two week free trial. It worked good but I've been in the same area the whole time (central Florida). Cancelled the free trial yesterday just since I don't know whether they back date my paid month to the beginning of the free trial or start when you start paying (which would mean that the 'free trial' really isn't free at all...). I'll start it up again in a few days to catch the later bowl games and then I'll know my one month sub will last until the season is over.

Fubo begins billing on the 15th day after your two week trial began, and that becomes your monthly bill date regardless the number of days in a month.

I don’t get it. I get Comcast 1GB internet with a bajillion channels for $110 a month. How in the hell would an alternate streaming tv provider with another internet provider be cutting the cord or a better option?
