Yeah, seriously. I had great OTA 30 miles west in the burbs. You're Wrigleyville area right? Is there some kind of electromagnetic interference?

Pro tip: The antenna needs to be hooked up to something to receive the benefits.

16 blocks South: Lincoln Park-Old Town border. A couple blocks inland from the park. There's high rises two blocks east of me, but everything immediately nearby is typical 3-4 story. I have the antenna in a ground floor window facing South.

Yes, but the tv room is on the ground floor. I'm not going to start drilling holes in floors to get it onto a higher window. Just to clarify, I'm using an indoor antenna that gets mounted to a wall or window, not an outdoor antenna.

Ahhh... yes. Huge difference between indoor / outdoor. That said, you'd think that you were still close enough. Then again, I think the WGN tower for example) is in Schaumburg just south of Olympic Park... Who knows where the rest of them are.

Sorry (Radio Frequency Engineer here) one last question is this an amplified flat antenna?

Mohu Leaf 30 1080 HD antenna. I don't think it's amplified. I'd assume there'd be a battery or plug in for that.
Probably would try to pick one up that's amplified. If you want to (Winegard FlatWave Amped FL5500A) refurb - wouldn't pay more than $20 or so. usually its a little box about halfway down the cable that you can power via USB.
