2024 CA OL Brandon Baker (Texas Verbal)

I remember a guy saying that this was an OL driven program.

Don't forget to mention that Paris Johnson (1st rounder), and Dwand Jones (4th rounder) are both starting and performing extraordinarily well in the NFL at tackle. Paris cashed in, and from what I'm reading, Cleveland should open it's purse strings to keep Dwand. 0 sacks by both, so if this keeps up, there are two OLs that will make some serious money. Yeah, Baker and Seaton would ice this recruiting class for me, but there's some very stout competition (Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Oregon) out there. Am betting that we get one of the two. Go Bucks! Frye, time to shine....

Eh just go shopping in the portal. Who cares if he takes the NIL Texas deal.

Would love to have him but oh well if not.

I never thought we would get him. Especially with our track record lately.

Yeah. Let’s go get another mid major castoff instead of the bluchip recruit.

C’mon man.

No I mean go get someone in the first wave like Miami did when they took the kid from Alabama.

I said this before but why are we even trying for kids like this if we are just going to get outbid in the end? If you aren’t willing to pony up then seriously just stop.

It’d be like me going to a Gucci store (which I’d never do anyways) and then bringing someone I want to the register only to go “wait this cost how much? Forget that!”

Yeah I get what you are saying, but I don't know that it is obvious what the price is going to be when they start recruiting a kid like this. By most accounts we had the lead for awhile and now it looks like we might not get him based on a higher NIL deal that came in late in the game. Another analogy could it is like going to bid at Barrett Jackson's on a car you really want, but don't know going in if someone there will pony up more than you at the auction. But it is very frustrating losing really important recruits to schools like Texas, USC, Miami, etc. that just shell out more NIL.

I will say though that recruitments like this one (assuming he doesn't pick OSU) for highly rated OOS OL are a big reason we are going so heavy on Ohio OL...that and the crop of Ohio OL lately has been pretty good lately. But a big part of the reason Stud is gone is losing on major OOS OL targets that we spent a lot of time recruiting, so Frye has got to win some of these types of recruitments and can't rely on an all Ohio OL class every cycle.

Before we get too upset over this one, let's see if he actually picks the Buckeyes or not though.
