Per Gorney, the four schools “emerging” for DT Marcus Fakatou are OSU, Michigan, ND, and UGA. Even with USC is pushing hard and just had him on campus.
We’ll see if we can get him on campus for March or April. LJ just visited him on Friday. He reclassed from ‘28, and I bet his ranking will continue to go up once they do the updates.

5* DT Marcus Fakatou releases Top10 and OSU made the cut. Tells Gorney, that out of all his Jan coaches visits, Georgia, Ohio State, and Michigan stood out. This is going to be a major battle, but we’re trying. On LJ:

Sitting down with Buckeyes position coach Larry Johnson was eye-opening.
“When they came in, hands-down they made that list without a doubt,” Fakatou said.
“He’s just a very knowledgeable person. He sounds so interested in this 27 class and he was saying the 27 class is a very interesting one especially with d-linemen.
“He thinks there’s a lot of talent. They have DJ Jacobs over there, he was talking about Jalen Brewster and me. He was thinking about retiring but he said he’ll retire after this 27 class so that meant a lot to me and my dad and to hear that was pretty cool.”

DT Marcus Fakatou sets an OV to OSU on 5/29.
He’s a priority for LJ and one of only 5 DT’s that he visited in Jan (Karlos May, Braylon Parks, Maleek Lee, and Brewster being the others). “Current” state we are probably running 4th or 5th here. But he’s never visited before, so certainly can move up. I really think landing a high-end DT is the most importantly position left this cycle. I really hope we spend up for someone like we were willing to do with Jacobs.

Biggins note on him setting up OV’s:

Ohio State is surging a bit here. Last time I talked with him a few weeks ago, the schools he said would get his first official trips were Texas, Georgia and Michigan. Now Ohio State is set and he'll take an unofficial there in March as well.
