2026 CA DL Khary Wilder is a Buckeye!!!

Well, they're all 'Silver Bullets' to me, whatever their #'s or names. Actually, believe it was one of the players that used that nickname during an interview. Also note that most of the players are home-grown, as in from freshman recruiting to playing as a junior/senior. Couple of them are in the sophomore category, and watch to see the development. The comparison to last year's #1 D is kinda astounding/thrilling, as the statistics seem to favor the current version. The players are giving alot of credit to Patricia, who (to my mind's eye), has tweaked the D, to this degree. Dunno the subtleties of different looks, jumping in and out of coverages, to otherwise befuddle the opposing offenses. No one seems to be 'getting open', so the DBs are acting independent (?) of the front seven (or six) in coverage, and if K-mac has more sacks than JT or Jack, then woo-hoo! Finally, kinda amusing to see UCLA hang up 400+ against PSU, and listen to Knowles 'explain' why. Ultimately it's a 'Go Bucks' here, and keep it up. PS, anyone know why Eddrick is in the doghouse?

Yeah, OSU is one of the few programs who have done a great job of developing their talent that they recruited in from HS. And their strategy to retain has worked better than most as well since they are set on paying more to retain the guys they get(because they're so confident in their recruiting). That's why there are 4yr players like Curry, Malone and Jackson. Idk if anyone is really playing independently (at least from my amateur POV), its just that the defense is playing so well together and feeding off of one another. It has to be a great feeling for the DL knowing that you can do your job, and not worry about the back end giving up a big play, and vice versa.
And I think Eddrick is having maturity issues. We can sometimes forget that these are still kids. He's only 19/20, has millions of people following his every move, probably is followed everywhere around campus, and on top of that is earning a 6 figure salary. I'm sure ego and maturity issues can arise, and then to add to it, he hasn't been the most consistent on the field. And had a bonehead penalty against Washington.

Thanks pnuts. Was wondering, and with the ease with players saying 'f*** it, I'm outa here', was hopeful that this young talent will grit his teeth and get after it in scarlet & gray. Coaches gotta whip some players, but do it in a gentle, constructive way. While not bruising their egos, etc etc etc. PS, in the neither here or there, am certainly glad that CJ is redshirting. To me he was always a big talent, only standing in line behind NFL bound players. As he is this year, with the 'coming out' of our DEs. Sooo, this will give him one last chance to make his mark. And to be sure, we'll need him next year, his talent, plus his experience/ability to show the young 'uns the 'how tos' of being a great player. Go Bucks!

ON3 on Khary Wilder:

just wanted to pop in and drop some quick thoughts on Khary Wilder because he is absolutely dominating this season. His movement skills are so freaky for the position. I am extremely curious what Ohio State will do with him since his body type and skillset is so versatile, but watching him play is such a treat. He has serious twitch, hand usage and bend for such a rare body type.

Wilder, an imposing defensive tackle prospect with some positional versatility has been one of the most productive defensive players in the country. At 6-foot-4, 260-plus pounds, Wilder has totaled over 80 tackles, 20 tackles-for-loss, 10 sacks and 25 hurries for Juniperro Serra (Calif.) high school so far this season. His movement skills for his size are special. He has the ability to knife between blockers from the interior and the bend to win the corner off the edge.
