He was VERY active. We're going to need him to elevate his game, especially in coverage now that Christian is out.Rewatching the Wisky game, CJ had his best game as a Buckeye imo. Fantastic in run support and good in coverage.

"C.J. thinks everything through, whether it's coming on a play out on the field or if it's a joke in the locker room. He thinks everything through to make sure he's right. He's just that type of guy." -- Cornerback Doran Grant

- Devin Smith was a freshman in the Ohio State football program three years ago, and he admitted that when he first showed up, he didn’t know much about one of the older players, C.J. Barnett.
“Then the first thing I did learn about him was how smart he was,” Smith said.
The revelation came during a team meeting as Barnett sat there in his customary unassuming style.
“The coaches would sometimes ask a question that most people wouldn’t know,” Smith said. “Then they would go straight to C.J. and he’d get the answer right on the money.”
The smartest guy in the room? Barnett, now a fifth-year senior safety and co-captain of the 2013 Buckeyes, wouldn’t go so far as to claim that. But to borrow an inscription from the base of the statue in the opening to the movie Animal House, “Knowledge is good” as far as Barnett is concerned.
“It never hurts to know things,” Barnett said. “Even what you might call useless knowledge, it never hurts to be aware of things. I try to pay attention all the time.”

Unfortunately, we’ve hit one of the surest signs that the end of the college football season is fast approaching: the beginning of myriad announcements of award semifinalists.
The first major national honor to release its list is the Jim Thorpe Award, which revealed Monday a group of semifinalists that’s 15-players strong. The award is handed out annually to the nation’s top defensive back.
Of those 15 players, just one was a semifinalist in 2012: Oregon cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu.
The Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC had three players each on the list, with the ACC and Big Ten coming in with two apiece. The AAC and MAC each had one semifinalist.
There are nine seniors and four juniors in the group. Florida’s Vernon Hargreaves is the lone freshman semifinalist, while Alabama’s Landon Collins is the only sophomore.
Last year’s winner was Mississippi State’s Johnthan Banks.
Below is the complete list of semifinalists.
