I think instead of a new jersey we just paint Oden the jersey colors, ala Bill Pearl, and let him play that way! Bet he doesn't "travel" as much then!

More than a few questions on Oden

Saturday, March 03, 2007 Doug Lesmerises
Plain Dealer Reporter
Columbus- He finished practice Thursday by stroking some right-handed free throws, a feat he's attempted just once in a game this season. He later strode off the court with ice packs wrapped on both his left leg and ailing left elbow, to say nothing of the right wrist still keeping him from his full potential.
Ready to play the final regular-season game of his freshman season today at Michigan, the presence of Greg Oden inspires something short of awe - more like uncertainty. The 7-footer is a finalist for Player of the Year, but doesn't expect to win, and he shouldn't. It's not that he hasn't been dominant. In his own way, especially defensively, he has been, changing games in ways that only opposing coaches truly understand. He's been more sturdy and subtle than spectacular, but that may be enough to lead Ohio State to the Final Four.

From the article above...
At least this conversation with reporters confirmed that in his time in Columbus, (1)he's learned to dislike the Wolverines. (2)He admitted he's kept his blue suede suit in the closet since hitting campus.

Two things.
1.
2. Oden in a blue suede suit? That would be a sight to see.

Reporter: Would you have missed out on this if you'd gone to the NBA?
"Yeah, but then, if you win an NBA championship, you're world champions. And you get a bonus."

The way I see it is this. We may only have, at the most, what...8,9 games left to watch a futer NBA HOFer play as a Buckeye? I know one thing for sure, I'll never look back on his time here and wished I'd watched him play less.

I have always felt he would be on campus for two years and I am sticking with that........(cross fingers)

Same here, not to mention if he waits another year, he'll be the first pick in the draft. I think Durant gets that honor this year.

My brother just IM'd me to tell me he heard some radio guy talking about Oden staying after this year. His impression was that the guy thinks Oden stays.

I think he's right

Oh, I agree. I think he may stay. I really hope he does. I'm just sayin' if he does go, I'll be glad that I watched every game I could. I wished I would've watched Jordan more than I did. As I get older, it becomes more and more clear that "special" players don't come along all that often. Even less often do those players play for my favorite team.

OHIO STATE NOTEBOOK
Oden back to right hand for shooting free throws
Sunday, March 04, 2007
Bob Baptist
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

ANN ARBOR, Mich. ? Greg Oden was waiting for a solid week of practice to feel comfortable enough to shoot free throws in a game with his right hand again. Ohio State?s first bye of the season last week gave it to him.
For the first time in two months, Oden shot free throws with his surgically repaired right hand and wrist yesterday in Ohio State?s 65-61 victory over Michigan in Crisler Arena. After missing his first try, he made his last four. "The second one, I was so scared I was going to air-ball it," he said. "I haven?t air-balled all year."

'The Oden Year' could provide lifetime memories

Sunday, March 04, 2007 Bill Livingston
Plain Dealer Columnist
Greg Oden came to Ohio State out of the mists of the past.
He summoned memories of the great big men before him - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, a.k.a., Lew Alcindor, perfecting the skyhook because the rulesmakers would not let him dunk, winning three straight national championships at UCLA; Patrick Ewing, big and bullying, winning one title at Georgetown and losing twice in the championship game; and most of all, Bill Russell, changing the game without the ball, winning two straight championships at San Francisco.
Only the playoffs remain now for Oden, OSU's 7-foot, 280-pound freshman center. "Playoffs" is the term in the NBA, not "tournament season," and that's probably, given a feather-light class schedule, where Oden is headed.
