Big men, large numbers:
It was business as usual for two of Ohio's premier post players last weekend.
Solon's 6-9 junior Dallas Lauderdale came up with a triple-double of 32 points, 16 rebounds and 10 blocks in a 76-74 double-overtime victory at Mentor. Lutheran West's Richard Semrau, a 6-10 senior, just missed a triple-double in the Longhorns' 97-44 victory at Oberlin. An Illinois recruit, Semrau had 27 points, 21 rebounds and nine blocks.
Right now, most tOSU fans are so focused on Oden they are overlooking Lauderdale who is basically the #1 target for tOSU in the 2007 class. This kid is very talented and still have room to develop and grow.
When I think of Semrau, I can't help but think of how funny it is that he didn't even consider Ohio State beause we weren't a basketball school. Glad Greg Oden didn't think that. And glad Lauderdale doesn't think that.
I've never been that impressed with Semrau personally... I think he struggles big time on D. He's not quick enough to guard the 3, and not strong enough to guard the 4. He is a perimeter player in a post player's body. I really don't think tOSU missed out on much with him personally...<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
IF Oden were to stay for a second year, and Thad were to land Lauderdale (and Koufos as well), then tOSU's frontline will be unstoppable. I think you could easily put Dallas and Oden on the floor together and no one would be able to get a rebound or get a shot off...
