C Dallas Lauderdale (Maine Red Claws - NBA G-League)

 for Dallas's free-throw shooting last night. The announcers on the radio said that he took his hitch said he had on the top of his stroke out of his free-throw shooting and it certainly looked like it worked last night. Hopefully, that hitch will not appear the rest of the season and props to Dallas for all of his hard work in improving his free-throw shooting.

I really hope this is a permanent improvement and not a fluke. It would be huge for the team to be able to have him on the floor at the end of close games without assuming he'll miss at least one of every two free throws he takes. Regardless, I've got nothing but admiration for him for his hard work in the gym and on his game.

Dallas Lauderdale's defense major part of Buckeyes' biggest road win in 19 years: Ohio State basketball notes
By Doug Lesmerises, The Plain Dealer
January 13, 2010

More notes and quotes from Ohio State's 70-66 comeback victory over Purdue:

* Ohio State forward David Lighty did a great job taking away Robbie Hummel in the second half but don't overlook center Dallas Lauderdale's defensive work. Purdue center JaJuan Johnson was completely taken out of the game, scoring a season-low 4 points on 2-of-5 shooting. He entered the game averaging 14.2 points per game and scored a career-high 30 against Ohio State in Columbus last February.

The Buckeyes 1-3-1 zone defense in the first half was effective in moving Johnson out of position, with Lighty working the back line and fighting Johnson all the way, as Lauderdale roamed the middle of the court around the foul line. When Ohio State was forced into a man-to-man defense by Hummel's electric first-half shooting, the Buckeyes had to be worried that Johnson would then make them pay. But Lauderdale and backup center Kyle Madsen didn't let Johnson do any damage.

"I thought our guys did a very good job in both man and zone and we did a nice job of pressuring the ball and didn't give them the looks inside," OSU coach Thad Matta said. "Dallas played defensively better than he has played in a long time."

"I commend Dallas on stopping Johnson," Lighty said. "He's a focal part of their offense and he did a real good job on him."

* The Buckeyes downplayed what the win may do for their confidence, though Matta admitted he was getting worried about what his players were thinking about as they started 1-3 in Big Ten play and were staring at a possible 1-4 start.

Lauderdale is giving us exactly what I thought he would give us this year.............I think he is progressing..............

I hope he can continue to get stronger in the upper body.......Dallas loses to many rebounds he has his hands on once he gets his arms fully stretched above his head................he loses his strength and control...........

You really think he needs to get stronger in the upper body. Sometimes guys get too big in the upper body and it has an adverse effect on them. Maybe some good hand exercises but I am not sure about getting stronger in the upper body IMO

Dallas Lauderdale's seven blocked shots tied his career high, and Matta said afterward that the junior is playing better than he ever has at Ohio State.

Matta said Lauderdale asked a question during a film session Tuesday night "and I told him his question was irrelevant because I don?t know who was in your jersey the first time we played Indiana. He wasn?t very good.

"But at the same time I pumped him up and said, 'Right now, I think you?re playing the best basketball of your career.' He?s really starting to understand defensively. He?s got a much better feel for what?s going on, he?s long, and his timing?s there."

Is Buford leaving? Does Crean hate Matta? (Hoops & Scoops: an OSU basketball blog)

Dallas is really becoming a force with his shot blocking ability and his dunks:) The one shot that he blocked last night that most impressed me was when that guard who was Mr. Basketball last year in Indiana took a jump shot from about 10' and Dallas still have a piece of it. Now all he needs to do is work on those free throws.

His free throw shooting has improved drastically since the coaches revamped his shooting 'style'. Does anyone remember which game he went from the old hitch 'n release to a more fluid shot?
I think it was the game he started to make free throws consistently:) Seriously, I notice that in the past couple games his free-throw shooting has improved dramatically but I can't remember when the hitch came out.
