BYU 44, Oregon State 20 (final - Las Vegas Bowl)

So, according to some of our Oregon friends who continually bring up the transitive property (the Purdue game)...

We committed 5 turnovers in a road game. That's a recipe for defeat against a lot of opponents, not just Purdue. Conversely, Oregon won the turnover battle with Purdue while playing at home, and still gave up 451 yards and 36 points to the Boilers.

If they want to hang their hats on that comparison, be my guests.

At this point I'd say its pivatol. Which leads me to think more and more that we'll be seeing something of a different game plan from Tressel. I believe we're honestly going to open with the passing game, maybe a few quick hitters, keep those safeties back then go to the bread and butter rushing.

If Pryor does connect on a deep ball or two then this game could get mighty interesting for us offensively.

You're preaching to the choir as far as I'm concerned. I've said as much in the Rose Bowl thread. The Ducks will likely load the box and dare us to throw. In fact, as suspect as their pass defense is, they probably hope we do emphasize the power running game.

Because the Ducks expect the Buckeyes to attempt to establish the run, it's my presumption that the Bucks will need to to pass in order to make their running game more effective.

Said it about Canfield during the Oregon game. TERRIBLE arm. He has no velocity, I don't even know how they scored that many points on Oregon.

Without intending to sound like an apologist, it's not always about the velocity when determining if someone is a good throwing QB. His placement is excellent, and you don't go through the Pac 10 and get first-team QB award IF you have a terrible arm.

That piece of crap Chargers ruining [censored]ing Ryan Leaf supporting wannabe coach?

[censored] that guy.

Otherwise, I wish him nothing but the best

:p

I've tried to have discussions with people around here about the whole departure and return by Riley. It's seems like a matter of either they don't know much about it, or they don't care. Just like when I was asking someone when he was on USC's staff and how did he do there. I didn't want to have to go look it up for myself, and this person didn't have a clue. Hell, Buckeye fans probably know all about JT's medical history, let alone his football credentials. Just a different world/mindset.

Cowherd already making PAC 10 excuses:

"These guys were playing for the Rose Bowl and they end up in the MAACO bowl? Is it any wonder they didn't show up? The PAC 10 doesn't reward it's teams the way the SEC does!"

So he's saying that, sometimes, teams don't show up in bowl games? Seems simple enough. It wasn't a valid excuse when OSU fans saw their team "not show up" in January 2007 even though we know that was probably 90% of the problem. You're better off not listening to ESPN unless you're an SEC fan (that sounded so ridiculous in my head as I typed it) or a USC fan. I'll say this, the Mountain West is making a pretty good case for itself when teams are being considered for the bowl games. Utah won a big one last year and this game was a blowout, not to mention TCU and Utah (again) will probably win their games.

Apparently ignoring the fact that Oregon State also lost out on the Rose Bowl in The Civil War last year, and managed to win their 5th straight bowl game in a year where the Pac-10 went 5-0 in bowls.
