Bucknuts and Scout Part ways

As recently as today ohiostate.scout.com sent out an e-mail inviting a 2 for 1 deal on a month-to-month premium site subscription. The header to the e-mail reads "Bucknuts.com Buy One Get One Free - TODAY ONLY!"

Wonder if SH at The Bucknuts.com is aware that they are so blatantly misusing their tradename?

Also is Scout just Esperanto for Shady?

I would let Kirk over at BN know that.
I sent a PM to Helwagen instead. Hope that is good enough to do the trick.

EDIT: Guys, we have "connections" with both sites that I'd hate to lose. With no dog in the fight, I don't see a reason to allow either site to get hammered around here...I moved this to the "read-only" Interforum BS Forum. If you have any concerns, fire a PM--21

Looks like Bucknuts has joined up with the Oklahoma and Texas Scout sites and they are trying to make this a class action lawsuit.

One of the allegations: though sites with magazines charge just 10 dollars more than sites without, which run 90 bucks a year, Scout earmarked a third of the annual subscription revenue as magazine revenue, which publishers get only a tiny cut of. Another: Scout chronically gypped sites out of advertising revenue -- a "conservative estimate" comes in at almost 30k a month for OU Insider, another of the named plaintiffs. That one seems hopelessly optimistic about internet advertising, but there you go.

Gatorcountry left Scout about eight weeks ago over similar issues. They hooked up with {gasp} ESPN in late May. We'll see. The Scout format was ass, however, so almost everybody was happy to see the break.

The site dimensions and organization? Or the swell nicknames given to the forums?

The organization, and generally going backward of the sophistication of the site. We lost the little drop box down that let you go from forum to forum easily. Or don't care about the stupid names so much. They can call it "Billy D's House of Indecision" if when I click it I get b-ball news.
