BuckeyePlanet Spring Drive 2009

The current total since March is $10,938.98 with 209 BPers. Thanks to everyone! :)

For those of you who are new to BP or here more now that the season is finally here (yay!), this would be a great time to participate in the rather loosely defined Spring Drive. BuckeyePlanet is a free site - free as in "free to use," not so much "free to operate." Our goal is to raise $2,200 per month to cover bandwith, technical updates and upgrades, server maintenance, and some basic expenses for site owner Clarity, who spends almost all the time his health issues permit working to keep this community up and running for our enjoyment. Everything else here is provided by members of the BP community volunteering their time and skills. We're working toward this goal with both donations from site members and ads, which are coming along but have accounted for less than a third of the goal in the better months, so individual donations are incredibly important to keeping the lights on for both BP and Clarity.

So we ask that if you enjoy BuckeyePlanet, please kick in a little sumthin' sumthin' to help keep our community up and running. PayPal and snail mail links are provided in the first post of this thread. It is GREATLY appreciated - thank you!

We're seeing the drive flatten out now... I'm hoping those who haven't yet donated to BP will take a moment to read the first post and help contribute to keeping the site and the man behind it up and running.

For those who participate in premium forums, please keep in mind that BP has all the same expenses but is committed to remaining free for our members, and please consider a one-time or monthly donation to the site if you enjoy your time here. Thank you!

We're looking at an additional expense of $130 this month for the purchase of the next version of the forum software. It's a very good deal for buying pre-release - we'll get the new version in a few months and upgrade over the summer. This should be a great move forward for BP and let us do some cool new things.

I can't add much to what Deety has said above but one word that always strikes me is that this is a free site and you almost get all of the information that a premium site gives you. In fact, this site probably give you more accurate information than most premium sites. There are still a lot of posters on here that do not have their red banners and that is something that I always notice. They look very nice next to your username:)

I have said this before but a man is sacrificing more than you can imagine to keep this website free so give up a pizza and a few beers and support Buckeye Planet. It will give you a good feeling:lift:

that is total bullshit,

call off work for 3 or 4 days, go eat pizza and drink beer and donate the $$ you saved on gas not going to work!

Ooh, you're in trouble now. :biggrin: It won't be out for a while; we pre-purchased it to get a better deal.

At $11,643.98 as of the last update. :)
