Marty was disappointed at the trade offers and then upon reflection realized their perfect player was available. All he had to do was to make a call to his buddy Pete.

After the phone call he decides to go with his #1 guy at #28 Shaun Cody, DE, University of Southern California.

Shaun should fit perfectly as the DE in the 3-4 scheme and quite frankly is the highest guy on the Charger Draft Board.

Out of the shotgun that PManningMVP takes the CB from sCUM ..
Steelers needs are pretty well known to their nationwide scouting network.

Cornerback is topmost on their mind.

Are the Stillers upset -- Nah!!

CBs are moving pretty fast, but I was hoping that our preferred CB pick remained available at Steelers first pick in 1st round.

All due respect PmanningMVP -- but you can have the slightly taller sCUM CB -- the Steel City has seen their future CB and it is in Rd 1 -- with pick number 30 ...

Fabian Washington, CB out of Nebraska,

This cat smoked the NFL combine with 4.25 speed, showed great strength and leaping ability. Should fit with well with our historically physical style of CB play and is the best available athlete (that is the Stiller mantra of course) at this critical need position.

And if that fast white dude (Fox??) out of Ohio State is still on the board by Round 4 through 6 -- we might just take him too (our scouts rate him a true under-rated pick). Never hurts to get someone who can do either corner or safety.

Turning it over to the East Coast of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the Iggles and stxbuck

The 2004 NFC champions have a distinct depth problem at DE-Burgess left as a FA, Kalu has been hurt, the Freak is not the most rugged specimen, and Jerome McDougle needs a major fire lit under his ass. Therefore, the Eagles select Dan Cody, DE-Oklahoma. Great pass rusher w/ a heart the size of a South Philly cheesesteak and motor that doesn't quit.

Don't blink, the second round always goes faster.

First round only took 6 days, 5 hours, 53 minutes.

The biggest surprise of the first round was that Michael Irvin got tired of hearing himself talk. :tongue2:

With the final pick of the first round, the reigning Super Bowl Chamion New England Patriots select LB Barrett Ruud fron Nebraska.

ILB is a major concern because of the release of Roman Phifer and the health concerns of Tedy Bruschi.

Ruud is more of a flow-to-the ball type of tackler than one who can step up and punish, due to a lack of ideal size and playing strength. However, he has exceptional quickness and acceleration to the ball and that speed lets him race past the slower blockers to make plays in the backfield. He always gives good effort and has the intelligence to handle assignments in either the base or schemed defense. He reads and reacts quickly to plays in front of him and also shows immediate reaction when operating in pass coverage. He has a good feel for taking proper angles to the ball, utilizing his above average straight-line speed.

Ruud Particulars:

4.65 40-yard dash
375-pound bench press
565-pound squat
355-pound power clean
31.5-inch vertical jump
9'6" broad jump
32 ½-inch arm length
9 5/8-inch hands.

With the 1st pick of the second round, the San Francisco 49ers select....

Travis Johnson, Defensive Tackle, Florida State

I really couldn't pass on Johnson with this pick. Johnson will hopefully shore up that D-line along with the recent pickup of Marques Douglas.
