BuckeyePlanet Mock Draft

With the 40th pick in the draft, the New Orleans Saints select WR Reggie Brown from Georgia.

I really didn't plan on taking two Georgia players with the same last name with my first two picks, but at 40, the Saints couldn't pass on the Bulldogs' highly electrifying and athletic wide receiver. Though Joe Horn has been highly productive for the Saints, Brooks and co. need another offensive threat. This one with more athleticism and game-breaking ability. Love the 40" vertical too.

With the 41st pick in the draft the Eagles select Kevin Burnett OLB-Tennessee. Burnett is a natural WILL, who is great in coverage and makes plays all over the field, and will add great depth and probably challenge for a starting spot. The Eagles just released Nate Wayne, so the opportunity is there.

With the 10th pick of the second round, the Dallas Cowboys select:

Heath Miller, TE, Virginia

Once again, this pick is all about value. We're happy with Jason Witten at tight end, but we believe that Heath Miller is a clear first round talent that we're fortunate enough to still find on the board.

And with that pick, the Cowboys are done with the mock draft.

Jerry's brain is fried. But we took Aaron Rodgers, David Pollack and Heath Miller.

p.s. - I hate the Cowboys with a passion. But I thought they'd be a good team to pick for, since they had 2 first rounders, along with #42.

New York Football Giants

The Gints grew a little concerned about their top 2 d tackle options in the second round. One apparently abuses steroids, while the other has grown quite fond of the Miggs County Gold. So instead of taking a risk with his final draft before Pioli takes over the Gints next year, Accorsi chooses the surest thing left on the board at a position of need:

Bryant McFadden, CB, Florida State

The Cardinals were hoping Heath Miller would fall in to their laps, and decided not to trade up to grab him. Obviously the Cowboys snagged him 2 picks ago. The Cardinals made a mild attempt to trade for him, but realized they are way too thin at CB, and with CB's flying off the board.... they needed to act. Although starBUCKS....I meant Dennis Green is intrigued by Mike "the Difference Maker" Nugent.... the Cardinals select COREY WEBSTER - CB -L.S.U.. This was a need pick after losing Relando Hill last week and trading Duane Starks. Webster was hampered by injuries his senior year, but is a projected first round pick by many.

Super star kicker Mike Nugent is relieved he isn't going to the NFL's version of a hole in the ground. His eyes are now locked onto the 49th slot.

With the 11th pick of the first round, Dallas selects:

Aaron Rodgers, QB from California

I know that we've got Vinny, Drew Bledsoe, and Drew Henson already. We've got to take the pick that gives us the most value. Some teams will be willing to trade next year's 1st rounder for Aaron, just not in a mock draft.

I also know that Bill Parcells wants to get immediate help, but this is my team and my pick. And I made the 15-minute window!
Even if he is there, which he won't be, there is no way JJ/Tuna are drafting a QB in the first round this year - no way. BTW, the Cowboys don't have Vinny, anymore. His one-year deal expired and he won't be re-signed.

you've got to be kidding me....dallas would jump at either rodgers or smith at their slot...

you are on drugs....bledsoe just isn't a long-term answer....

also: i think this guy was reading our draft.....

<table style="border: 1px solid rgb(102, 102, 102);" border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0" width="554"> <tbody><tr><td class="pick">7</td> <td class="player">
vikings_30.gif
</td> <td class="player_a">WR</td> <td class="player_name_a">Mike Williams</td> <td class="player_a">USC</td> <td class="player_a">Jr.</td> <td class="player_a">6-5</td> <td class="weight_a">230</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="analysis" colspan="8"> The Vikings could go a lot of different ways with their first of two first-round picks, but finding a big-play receiving threat to replace Randy Moss still seems the most logical place to start. Believe it or not, despite the team's depth at running back, Texas' Cedric Benson is also in the mix.</td></tr></tbody> </table>

i'm waiting for my check from minnysoda for alerting them to the idea of getting benson and dealing either smith or benett.....

So in a mock draft, I'm not supposed to take a guy just because he won't really slip to #11 in the real draft? I must have missed that rule.

And perhaps you missed the part where I said he was picked for value. He'd be worth a first-rounder plus a player/pick to more than 1 team, but picks for next year's draft choices aren't practical in mock drafts.

You are right about Vinny being gone. The NFL site with their roster no longer shows him, but it's dated April 13th, and when my pick was made on April 9th, he still showed on the roster I looked at. But him being off the roster, is that also supposed to make Dallas less likely to pick a top QB?
