How to change your settings and preferences:
On the brand new BuckeyePlanet, accessing and customizing your settings and preferences couldn't be easier. There are more ways to customize than ever before though, so this guide is meant to help with understanding all of the options available to you.
You can access settings for various aspects of your experience on BuckeyePlanet through your username link, which is located next to the Inbox link in the upper right-hand corner of the page. You can either click on the link to go straight to your Personal Details page where there is a menu of options on the left side of the page, or you can hover over the link with your cursor and view the same menu of options without having to navigate to a new page.

Once you are able to view the menu, you will see that there are several areas where you can make adjustments. All in all, it's similar to the UserCP on the old version of BuckeyePlanet. There are some new options available though, and the following will hopefully help explain them...
Privacy
Includes various options such as show/hide your online status, show/hide your date of birth, and the ability to restrict who is able to view your personal details or start a Private Conversation with you. Unlike privacy settings on other sites *cough*Facebook*cough*, on this version of BuckeyePlanet they are easy to find and fairly easy to understand.

Preferences
This category deals with browsing preferences. You have the ability to change the Style or "skin" of BuckeyePlanet here, similar the way you could on the old version of BuckeyePlanet. At launch there will only be one Style available, but as more options are made ready you can select your favorite and use it. Your selection is tied to your account, so it will automatically implement that style as long as you are logged in, no matter what device you are browsing from. On the old version of BP you had to set the Style on each individual device you browsed from. Now it is much easier!

Other items of note in the Preferences category are the settings to "Automatically watch threads that you create or when you reply..." and to "receive email notifications of replies". This is an area where you will want to start to carefully consider how many alerts you want to receive from BuckeyePlanet, and of what kind. The new version of BP has a robust alert system that can help keep you up to date on the content you care about the most. If you don't set things up how you want them though, it can be very easy to get buried in notifications. That's where the next group of settings comes in.
Alert Preferences
You have the ability on the new version of BuckeyePlanet to receive Alerts on nearly every type of action that takes place in the forums. This can include being notified when someone "likes" one of your posts (rep!), quotes you, tags you in a post, or interacts with your personal profile. You can also receive alerts on Sportsbook or Pick'em events. You can choose to receive alerts for as many or as few things as you want.

Any questions? Explanations unclear? Reply in this thread and we can help each other out.
