Fantasy BuckeyePlanet Fantasy Football - Keeper League (R.I.P.)

Could be a monster grab for you.....I always think of Shaun Alexander back when Ricky Waters went down early in the season and it vaulted the guy in my home league who grabbed SA off the waiver wire to an easy championship.

I thought about picking Jackson up as soon as I heard Grant limped off the field for the Packers, but at the time the FF sites were saying it was probably only a couple week injury. :pissed:

Yeah, I was reading the same stuff - but having seen the injury take place I somehow knew better.

I'll be happy if it comes out a wash in this league. The only problem is now I have Grant taking up a bench spot for the rest of the season.

If it works out for me, it might end up being a bigger deal in the regular Deuce league. Jerome Harrison & Marion Barber were my RB2/RB3 last week, so any upgrade to what is at best a black hole of inconsistency would be welcome.

It obviously remains to be seen what Jackson does with his opportunity, but it seems often times a season can be made by finding a relative unknown who catches lightning in a bottle.

I grabbed Jamaal Charles late last year in one of my leagues and he ended up pulling me from a 5th or 6th place finish to 3rd place over the last few weeks. The year before that I traded for Matt Cassel with half a season or so of games remaining in the year and I think I road him to 2nd place.

That's good stuff to think about.

I tend to do the opposite. I watch the waiver wire like a hawk early in the season and almost ignore it later on. I'll give up on a guy that had a terrible first week and go after a guy that had a great first week. Last year, I waived Mendenhall after week 1 because I don't think he even got in the game. That was the one move I kicked myself over the entire season and I'm still doing it (to be fair, it took him quite a few weeks to become lightning in a bottle for Pit). On the other hand, I did ride Steve Slaton's rookie year 2 years ago after week 3-4 after he tore up Tennessee's then vaunted D.

I told myself I wasn't going to do that this year, but after watching the Jets play, Braylon is gonna be trash this year and I was counting on him being my WR3. Dropped him for Naanee, who could potentially be that WR3 I should have drafted late. Also took a risk and dropped Darren Sproles for injury-prone Fred Taylor. With Maroney gone, Taylor's the starter in New England and Sproles is likely gonna be inconsistent as far as points go this year with Ryan Matthews getting basically all the carries in SD.

Looks like whoever I play will have a ridiculous week.

The only player in my starting lineup that didn't have a TD was Nate Kaeding.

You might get your revenge on me in the regular Deuce league if my Saints DEF with a 20-point head start can't hold off your Drew Brees

So about 2/3 of my team is "probable", "questionable", or "out". Gonna be a good week.
So, the last team without a loss lost last week to the last team without a win. Proving again that "any given sunday..."

And no blaming injuries. My guys played... they just plain sucked.

Tough league this year. I've got four losses on the year, and in three of the four, I had 108+ points that week.

Tell me about it - I'm right behind you with 5 losses - our teams are 1-2 in total pts. scored on the year, separated by only .32.

Our bad luck is nothing compared to Bob Saccamano's though. He's been the victim of 1155.95 points against - by far the highest in the league. My points against is next highest - at a distant 985.39. I've had the two highest point scoring weeks so far - both times breaking into the 140s - and they've both come against him in weeks where his team went for 100+ itself.

Congrats to applachia.

I always forget about the thursday kickoffs, so Frank Gore started from the injured reserve  Fortunately, his replacement (at the flex), Mike Williams, would have left me a pt or two short, so that mistake is easier to swallow.

I'm happy with a semi-final appearance considering Deangelo, Dez, Gore were all on the IR and my QB was Fitzpatrick

I've mad the Super Bowl in just my second year...all hail the expansion era :banger:
Congrats, Bucklion. Some of my most consistent players (Foster, Bradshaw, Bowe, etc.) choked when I needed them most. You are very deserving of making the championship game man. Well-played.

I'm thrilled to have won the regular season and finishing above 6th place, which until now, was the best I'd ever done in this league... and it was a TOUGH league this year. Kudos to everybody for keeping up on your teams!!

And looking forward to playing J-Dub in for 3rd this weekend :banger:

Thanks, I really have to say that the only reason I was able to do well was because I was the first one that nabbed Vick. He has literally generated 1/3 to 1/2 of my points some weeks. I was happy to be competitive this year...hopefully that will carry over next season.
