Buckeye Tailbacks - 2005 (official thread)

Can Haw catch? Screen passes and such to him would be killer.

That is, if we ever start using screen passes...

Problem is, I don't see either guy as a run-up-the-middle-through-the-tackles kind of back. Pittman moreso than Haw(especially after the spring game and how most of Haw's yards came from around the corners). If you give either of them room to breathe though, I'd say their speed alone will allow them to pull big numbers.

I think JT should take advice from my NCAA 06 dynasty and switch haw to fb and run some triple option
I'm playing this season on NCAA 2005 and Stan White is a kick ass FB. I redshirted Haw in 2004, but he still beat out Pittman for the job in 2005. Since Zwick turned pro after 2004 I run a lot of option with Smith. No one can stop the goal line triple option. If they play the pitch White will hit them up the middle for 9 yards. I might have to give Ginn a shot at QB on the option and see how he does.

I'm going with Maurice Wells for this year as well. The kid is here over the summer, so he'll do a good job of learning the playbook. His talent is there and ready to go, my only question mark on him is his carrying ability. Did he put the ball on the ground many times in HS? Even a few fumbles in HS can lead to a larger # in college. If he has excellent handling ability, then I say he could very well get a decent number of carries as early as the Texas game. I also think he'd take over by Iowa if this is the case. In addition, from all accounts he has a very good rapport with the team already.

Does anyone know whether there will be any team-enforced suspension or anything like that for Haw? Whenever he gets into the mix I think he will do well but right now Pittman is looking pretty strong. I'd say Pittman gets 20+ carries at the beginning but Haw will take more as the year goes on.

That being said, Wells may come in and blow us all away by taking over immediately and never looking back on his way to a Hall of Fame career. But right now he's an unknown so I'm not counting on much.

I'm going to say the carries goes as such

Pittman-10
Haw-10
Wells-10

I think if we can get them to average these amounts we'll be JUST FINE

Pittman-50
Haw-50
Wells-50
Smith-30
Ginn-50

thats 230 yards on the ground!! that'd be a day at the park right there!

Oh yeah if you run Reverse option and move your corner to the other side of the field and run to where the corner WAS its wide open in 2006
