Buckeye Man and Buck-I-Guy??

I think it’s on other fans- not to aggressively go after the guy, but to ignore him. Don’t let him mooch at your tailgate. Don’t take pictures with him and especially don’t give him money for things. Don’t let him take up space around you in the front row if he doesn’t have a ticket.

Take this and apply it to all the super fans, which should be done regardless- but maybe this incident will bring it to more people’s attention.

If the super fans actually are fans, this won’t make an impact on them in any way... and it avoids the possibility of any unnecessarily aggressive and possibly messy “attack” on the people.

Thing is, nobody is saying these guys should be banned from attending tOSU games, are they? No one is trampling on their right to be present at a public event. If they love the team so much, what difference does it make what they wear to the games? Are they there to see, or to be seen?

Tricky thing is, clearly one person is being singled out. Any action taken would pretty much have to be on grounds other than the costume, because you're into a whole sticky wicket about limited free expression and, especially, setting very strict standards on what is acceptable for fans to wear. I know nobody wants to be told what color trousers or what type of shoes they're allowed to wear, or to be given a list of which brand of tOSU t-shirts are acceptable attire in the stadium.

The place I think the university would have a shot would be to go after him for appropriating the name and reputation of the university for his own personal gain. He's been merchandising himself for years as a representative of the school and its fan base, without obtaining anybody's (certainly not my) permission. Didn't they take Shaggy Bevo to the abattoir for a similar reason? (And I'm not aware that there was even any monetary profit involved in that website, unless they sold adverting or souvenirs or something.)

Ohio State goes after people selling non-licensed knockoffs, and as Bevo is a trademark from Texas, that's how the Shag got hit with a cease and desist order. This guy is reselling stuff in the same manner. I've seen the licensing fees paid just for high school bands to be able to play Buckeye Battle Cry as part of their assortment of songs at performances and whatnot. While the amount is small, it's still all about licensing....

That's what surprises me when I read stories that he just elbows his way down to the front row. Who the fuck is not going to go get an usher at that point. Motherfucker tries to elbow me out of my seat, and I'm gonna carve him.

This is why I don't understand or totally buy the stories about him pushing kids out of the way to get on camera. At some point some dad had to have laid his ass out.

Maybe he gets away with it for the same reason lots of other people have gotten away with shit over the years: He's made himself pseudo-famous, and there is a perception of power around that.

It seems to me that we can close a couple of loops and solve this problem by creating a new PSU troll and informing Dan Yacobacci that Buck-I-Guy's other alias is Tug Speedwell.

If someone can challenge my second amendment rights and I’ve never so much as killed a squirrel with a gun (birds don’t count because they are birds), then we sure as hell can challenge this fuckers first amendment rights.

Just say’n.

You can be banned for inappropriate conduct:

  • Guests should conduct themselves in a manner that represents their University, their Conference, and the NCAA with honor, dignity, and respect.

Showing up at Coach Bruce's funeral in his clown suit was undignified and disrespectful. Ban his ass. If he thinks his rights have been violated, he can hire an attorney.

Fan Code of Conduct

SIAP...

Buck-I-Guy attempts to apologize to Earle Bruce’s family, fails miserably

On Friday morning, Chubb posted for the first time on Facebook since the incident at the memorial for the late Hall of Fame coach Earle Bruce on Wednesday. His statement was short, “I what (sic) to Apologize To Coach Earl (sic) Bruce’s Family and Friends Former Coach’s (sic) Former Players for signing a Portrait not met (sic) for the public John Chubb”...Following the fauxpology, Chubb has been trying to remind his friends and followers on Facebook of what a good guy he is by posting pictures of himself (in costume) at various charity events around Columbus. I mean, I guess that’s “Crisis Management 101,” just don’t be so blatantly obvious about it...
