Where were you in line? I wasn't too far back. I was in the middle of the garden center. I was disapointed that they didn't have 8 x 10's of him. But I snuck 3 pics of him ill send you and I got a cool autograph on my helmet! AJ HAWK IS A BENGALS FAN TOO!

Talk about disappointment! I'm on active duty orders and drove straight there after work. I probably arrived around 5:30-5:45 PM and got in line. I stood there, for two and a half hours, and Hawk promptly left at 8 PM leaving hundreds of fans dumbfounded and frustrated. They brought a few police cars to ensure things didn't get out of hand. He needs to fire that publicist. I hate going anywhere in uniform and the last thing I wanted to do is blow three hours of my night to be turned away when I was probably 30 minutes from getting one.

My wife insists I try the next time he is signing, but forget that. I'm not so sure I want an autograph if I run the risk of wasting more of my valuable time. At least I got to see my daughter for the first time in two weeks.

I was about 12th in line. I got there just before 3:00, so I stood in line for just over 3 hours, but I figured it would be worth it to assure myself of getting in and out with an autograph...that sucks for everyone who stood for the same 2-1/2 to 3 hours and walked away with nothing.

I brought my camera too, but several people around me were told to put cameras away or they would be ased to leave. (they said this was a Wal Mart policy...nothing to do with AJ or his promoter/agent)

Also, I was told that the guy sitting first in line got there at 10 a.m. :yow1: I was perfectly satisfied where I was in line...can't imagine being there for another 5 hours longer than I was to move up 10 places or so.

I've talked with a few other people who have dealt with this particluar Promoter (Mall Event Managers, Sports Collectable Shop Owners etc.) and none of them had anything nice to say about him. But in this case (as far as the taking of pictures go) I really do think that it was a WalMart policy not to allow photography or video...

As the crowd started to accumulate, at least an hour before AJ arrived, an older woman in line next to me pulled out her camera and took a picture of three young children dressed in their Buckeye garb and sitting on one of the display benches in the Garden Center. It was just a picturesque shot of a nice OSU event and standing in line for a few hours what else ya gonna do? Immediately a store manager half-sprinted over to us and told the lady that no pictures were allowed inside WalMart and she needed to put the camera away or she'd be asked to leave.

A half hour later some guy took a pic of his wife and kid in line (again, before AJ was anywhere to be seen) and an Assisstant Mngr. jogged over and told him the same thing. I asked the guy what the policy was intended to protect and he simply said it wasn't just Piqua WalMart's policy, but all WalMarts policy. I assumed it had something to do with competition or insurance issues or something along those lines but the employee really didn't say (probably didn't know).

Actually (and this isn't to give any props to this Promoter because I believe the people I've talked to and their assessment of him as well as you all) the WalMart employees I spoke with said that they would have one of their store photo lab techs take pictures of AJ signing each person's item and let you buy a copy for $5, all procedes going to some charity (don't remember which) if Hawk's Promoter would allow. They took pics, so I guess he gave the o.k., but then again if he said no to WalMart and Pepsi for a charitable cause, I'm sure that wouldn't have been good for his business. (i won't say "image" since it doesn't sound like he has much of one anyway).

P.S. I believe the WalMart was open for business prior to yesterday, but that was their Official Grand Opening event...not positive about that since I didn't actually try to go to Piqua WalMart before Tues., but that's what I was told.

regardless of whether there is such a bizarre policy, from what I've heard in this thread and elsewhere, that promoter tends to flip out any time someone tries to take a picture at one of his signings. Glad to hear you guys still had a good time, and it wasn't shut down for some of those reasons.

The promoter was behind it all. I could almost guarantee some of the money from those photos went in his pocket! He's starting piss off a lot of people!

Not to burst your bubble... some lady said he got there at 8 IN THE MORNING!

I can distinctly remember an occasion or two back in High School were my friends and I walked into the store with a video camera to catch some mischief on tape, Walmart would never allow it due to corporate policy. The reason being as stated above, is to protect their prices.

I think that's a load of crap! Video camera is one thing but a camera to take snap shots of people at the signing is another...it's been well documented at other signings involving this promoter he doen'st like cameras near his player(s). He's a tool!

Im sure the guy planned to have it at Walmart for that specific reason, saves face for him, and keeps people from taking pictures with his signees.

Oh, and the picture thing is a Wal*Mart policy - some stores have a sign by the door that says no photographic or digital recording equipment allowed ... and it relates to pricing and price-matching. Most managers won't say anything, especially in the instances above, but new store and new employees probably means start out being tough and lighten up down the road (like a teacher, right Grad21).
