I read thru the thread and didnt see it mentioned but heard on 1460 today that Troy is charging $20 or $25 just to personalize it....

So for him to write To Joe I would have to pay 25 dollars let alone for him to write Troy Smith and pay X amount dollars...

IMO this stuff is getting out of hands...

The blurb on Cardboard Heroes is very confusing. It says: "You can get an inscription for $20 each, personalization is free." ????

So "Go Bucks!" or "Heisman Trophy Winner 2006" costs $20, but "to Ralph" is free? Don't know.

Did anyone make it to the signing at the Veterans Memorial in Columbus this past weekend? If so, how was it?

I was there. I don't think that there were more than about 200 - 250 people there for Ginn. I was #114 and there was only about an hour to go when I got through the line.

Usually inscriptions that increase value of a piece (HOF, Heisman, etc.) are extra, but personalization, which makes it less likley you will sell it, is often free.

Anyone think the timing of this signing is interesting? Pretty savy seeing as though the Ginn signings seem to be done. Now everyone can concentrate on Troy and shell out big bucks for his sigs (kinda like a grand finale for Buckeye fans). Another point I was thinking about shouldn't he be 100% concentrating on getting ready for the combine??? Or is this late indication he will only be there to do the interviews but none of the workouts?

Anyone going tommorow to the Troy signing? I'm tempted buit as a college student it would really set me back. Would I be better off waiting a few years or will his autographs go up even more???

Never know...will depend some on his pro career, and how frequently he signs.

Just made a call to the Cardboard Heroes in Beachwood at 6:53 pm, so about an hour into the singing. I asked the guy who answered if the line was long. The guy I spoke to said it was not that bad at all. Not sure what his idea is of not bad at all, but that doesnt sound like there are a bunch of people getting in line to pay the prices they are asking. Anyone decide to fork over the dough and want to give us an update?

Your conclusion could be correct, but there is also another plausible explanation of his report. Think about it: if you call and ask how the line is, and he says it's really long, you're less likely to go down there and buy a ticket. I'm not saying that he was lying to you for sure, but I'm merely pointing out that there could have been another reason for him downplaying how long the line was. Then again, I wasn't there, so if anyone has the scoop, I'd also like to hear how it went.
