Bruce Pearl (Auburn Head Coach, Ongoing Asshat)

A signal such as the one sent by Pearl only has real meaning when it is met by an equal signal in return. To do otherwise, in an age of gender equality, sends a message that not only impacts on the esteem of women but also of men.

So, I have to go against the opinions expressed in this thread. Pearl is sending the wrong message unless it is accompanied by a quid pro quo from the women's basketball team at a men's game.

I know that this will be difficult for many men to accept and that sharing the limelight with women goes against the grain for many men. However, if you think about it, it really is high time that women were given equal opportunities in this sphere of athletic endeavor, even in a backward state such as Tennessee.

I know not everyone will agree, but its the right thing to do.

"...what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul." JK.....but I still have no idea what the heck your talking about!

Same here, I thought I was the only one who had trouble following that post.

Uh-oh, guess I better translate this one.

CAN THE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM PLEASE SHOW UP AT THE NEXT MEN'S GAME AND TAKE OFF THEIR TOPS?

Hope that some of our slower folk can now follow along without the sarcasm font on!

honestly i could really careless. but i have a hard time feeling that it was nothing short of publicity stunt. had he shown up in an "orange crush" or whatever their student section name is t shirt great. taking your shirt off and waving a towel doesnt do anything for me....

does noise help? sure, but its sorely overrated. what is the impact of it? little but some...

For some reason I don't think Pat Summitt returns the favor.

Wrong. Give her some credit for doing something, but unfortunately her singing sounded like somebody stepped on a cat.

Pat Summitt returned the favor to Bruce Pearl with a rendition of 'Rocky Top.' (Wade Payne / Associated Press)

Summitt Belts Out 'Rocky Top' for Vols

By ELIZABETH A. DAVIS
AP Sports Writer

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.
Pat Summitt wore an orange cheerleader uniform, sang "Rocky Top" and stood on top of a human pyramid to show her support of the Tennessee men's basketball team Tuesday night.

I give Pat Summitt credit for doing that - on the court that's named for her.

Unfortunately, just like with Bruce Pearl painted chest, the clips of those coaches showing spirit will be run to death on ESPN over the next several years.
