Apologies, I'm so selfish!! That's the link I used as well.

That's some very interesting reading material.

For some reason, I thought I read a comment about Matta and Pearl not shaking hands before or after the game. Can't seem to find it now.

First of all, apologies for not explaining the situation to those who didn't grow up in my era/area. I was born in Ohio and graduated from OSU, but lived my teenage years in Chicago when all this occurred. Also, I was an All-Area BBall player here in Chicago and met Deon @ one of the many banquets for Ben Wilson (basically Lebron James in HS, until he was murdered). Deon is an incredibly classy guy, and trust me when I tell you, what Pearly did is/was much worse than what that article represented.

A signal such as the one sent by Pearl only has real meaning when it is met by an equal signal in return. To do otherwise, in an age of gender equality, sends a message that not only impacts on the esteem of women but also of men.

So, I have to go against the opinions expressed in this thread. Pearl is sending the wrong message unless it is accompanied by a quid pro quo from the women's basketball team at a men's game.

I know that this will be difficult for many men to accept and that sharing the limelight with women goes against the grain for many men. However, if you think about it, it really is high time that women were given equal opportunities in this sphere of athletic endeavor, even in a backward state such as Tennessee.

I know not everyone will agree, but its the right thing to do.
