it depends on who needs what. if either leinart or rogers is on the board at #3, cleveland will likely get offers for a trade down.

Arizona needs a rb and a qb. i doubt they'll gamble on benson or rogers/leinart being on the board at #8. they could possibly trade up to 3 and give the browns a 2nd.

the ultimate scenario for cleveland would be to get dallas' 2 1st round picks for their #3, and maybe a 2nd next year.

you can then go either Ol/DL, or DL/OL in the first.

I'm really starting to like Alex Smith more and more..the kid is smart as hell. He took so many advanced courses in HS that he came into college as a junior equivelant and got his bachelors his second year there...then started work on his masters in his third year at age 21. He's above most players in intelligence and he's got the athletic ability to be a legit top 10 pick.

I think we're gonna hear his name more and more.

So much so that he may not get past the 49ers.

I still don't want to use a first rounder on a QB this year. There are so many needs on this team it doesn't make sense to draft a QB. I want our O-Line to get better first before we even think of drafting a QB this high. Also the pressure to start a high end draft QB wil be unbelievable and putting another young QB behind a horrible O-Line will just screw him up ala Tim Couch.

I much prefer to get the QB once everything else is in place to insure success... ala Ben Rothlisberger.

I understand where you guys are coming from but there is one OL that might be worth the #3 pick and that's Alex Barron and that may be too optimistic cause he may not be a top 5 tackle. Unless the Browns trade down, they gotta take the best available. There are going to be alot of good OL's available in the second and third rounds I think.

I agree there won't be a OLine worth the #3 pick, but that does not mean we pick a QB with it. I would not mind picking Antrel Rolle, Derrick Johnson or the top DLineman available. All I know is we need an impact player if we do stay at #3. While I would love to trade down, I will not hold my breathe. But we need impact players and a QB will not be impact, especially when he will spend most of his time on his back if he even plays at all.

My dream scenerio is Rodgers drops to us at #3 and Dennis Green falls in love with him and we get #8 plus other picks. At #8 our options open up more and allows us to take Barron.

So what's wrong with drafting a QB and having him learn for a year or so. Look at all the great QB's that spent the first few years of their careers getting killed every Sunday and playing on crap teams. If Rodgers or Smith are worth that pick and an OL isn't there, then I think you take them.

You say it doesn't do any good to get a QB that's gonna get killed like Couch, but with Garcia possibly gone (and he won't last till 2006), Holcomb could be gone, so all you have left is McCown. The comparisons to Couch's situation I think are totally unfounded. You could put the Dolphins OL's of the 80's in front of Couch and he would still suck. Maybe alot of Browns fans are just shellshocked from the Couch situation.

I think it would be such a waste to pass up on an obvious need just because there are questions with the blockers. I don't think Dallas was thinking that when they took Aikman...or Indy when they took Manning.

In my opinion Rodger & Smith are not worth a top 5 pick. They are just a top 5 pick because the QB crop this year is not very good. I can bet they would have been 15-20 picks in last years draft.

I actually would not mind Garcia back for '05. Mainly because any QB that we have will take serious lumps next year. So who wouldn't love to see Garcia get nailed a few more times

cleveland isnt taking a qb at #3 unless something amazing happens in FA before the draft, which it wont. Savage has basically alluded to that already. i wouldnt call either smith or rogers a top 3 pick until after the combines.

Projected Pick: Alex Smith
The CFN Pick Would Be...: Mike Williams

The Browns will be interested in starting a new era with a bright young quarterback to build around. The team needs far more firepower at receiver and the former Trojan star will be more than worthy of being a top five pick. Everyone will undervalue him because of the time off; that will be a huge mistake.
