Actually, I believe he was saying we're unlucky - which of course was the point of the thread. I mean, if it wasn't for the irrationality of superstition, I'd say the Browns were cursed. It truly is hard not to suck when your team is this unlucky.

Ephraim: Suspended 4 games for substance abuse.

I mean, what other team does this happen to?

Ripping on the Browns. It's like an annoying cliche. It's not even worth a persons breath.

I read Terry Pluto's book: "False Start: How the New Browns Were Set Up to Fail" and even after losing the 3rd center this training camp I still don't think the Browns are cursed. The new Browns had a very small margin for error at their inception if they wanted to be a good team at this stage of the game.

The biggest blame goes on the people running this circus. I believe that success on Draft Day equates to success on Game Day the new Browns have had very little success in either area. Remember all the extra picks the Browns had in 99 and 00? Unfortunately, the Browns had a bunch of coconuts manning the war room at such a crucial time in the young life of the franchise. Six words. Rahim Abdullah in the 2nd round! According to Pluto though, these previously mentioned coconuts really weren't set up for success by the NFL in the first place!

Butch Davis came in after that and didn't do much better. Jeremiah Pharms? Ryan Pontbriand in the 5th round? Trading a 2nd pick to Detroit to move up one spot to pick Soldja when the Lions weren't planning on picking him anyway. Melvin Fowler in the 3rd round as the center of the future and then when it became apparent that Fowler wasn't working out the Browns have to invest a 1st round pick on another center Jeff Faine when many teams GM's would never consider picking a Center in the first round (wasn't LeCharles Bentley a 3rd round pick the same year). Was Chaun Thompson really worth a 2nd round pick? The new Browns picked a WR in the 2nd round each of their first 4 years back in the league. Only one is still with the team and probably not for very long.

Have the new Browns ever drafted a player to date that has ever made a Pro Bowl or even came close to atleast being considered for a Pro Bowl? Christ you'd think a blind squirrel would find a nut atleast once in a while!

It's not a curse as much as it's the stupid fucks that were running the show. Hopefully, in a few years, I'm not saying the same thing about Crennel and Savage. With the salary cap and parity in the NFL, each team has an equal chance to succeed. I believe that. The good organizations (like the fucking Pittsburgh Steelers I hate to say it) always seem to do well. The Steelers plug and chug with they're draft picks. A star goes free agent and they always seem to have a replacement waiting in the wings. The Steelers have depth because they know how to draft. The Browns suck because they have struck out mostly on draft day to this point.

Kamerion Wimbley better pan out is all I can say! If he doesn't then the healing hasn't even begun as far as the Browns are concerned. If Wimbley flops like Courtney Brown then the Browns are today still at square one.

Atleast we have the Buckeyes!

i realize that i'm a little late to the party here, but as a Bengals fan, you ARE aware of PAUL BROWN's involvement in the inception of Cleveland's professional football franchise, are you not? yes, that's the same Paul Brown who coached the Massilon Tigers to multiple HS National Championships, who coached the Ohio State Buckeyes to the 1942 National Championship (and the Civillian Title in '41) and whom also coached the Cleveland Browns to 10 straight championship games, of which he won EIGHT. (Paul BROWN, Cleveland BROWNS, get it?) i don't know about you, but i'm fairly certain that 8 titles in 10 years is a dynasty the likes of which has never witnessed either before or since. that is also the same Paul Brown who founded the Cincinnati Bengals, and whose incompetant son is still calling the shots down there on the Ohio River. since you are so full of vim and vigor about your beloved Bengals, who are named for a HIGH SCHOOL team, i'm sure that you are also aware of the fact that the Cincinnati Bengals have won exactly JACK SHIT. in their entire history. that's right, they are the proud owners of two 'second place' trophies, and as we all know, second place is the first loser...

look, i really don't hate the Bengals, but once in a while you Bengal fans need to be reminded of the fact that you're the stepchild, and always have been.

I commend you lv. See BN27, it is possible to give your opinion on the Browns (and even say we suck if you choose to) and back it up with some decent conversation.

My problem with you isn't that you dislike the Browns. It is that every time there is a Browns thread, no matter what the topic, you pipe in with "They just suck." If you wanted to discuss how or why, then no one would get pissy with you.

Instead you choose to be the little kid who taunts somebody else because your Raiders haven't been getting your dick hard for many years now.

Sometimes people should ask me what the fuck I'm talking about if they have no clue.

#1. If there was another thread where I ripped the browns, I don't remember it. That's how high on my priority list 'ripping on the browns' is.
#2. I don't dislike the browns, I'm about as indifferent as it comes. But they do suck, which is evident, so I said that.
#3. Me typing "no they suck" was initially a joke. If it weren't for the stick that flys up every Browns fans ass the second somebody points this fact out, you might have chuckled at it. If somebody tells me the Raiders suck, I laugh and agree with them.
#4. I wasn't taunting anybody.....well, not untill you all started raising Kleenex's stock by 500 points.

Get over it.

Sure the browns have had a bad run of luck, but there are not witches/warlocks putting curses on a football team. The world is not out to get cleveland, contrary to the conspiracy/curse excuse that surfaces way too much with cleveland sports fans.

The browns have been very unlucky with a lot of pickups... but the reason they don't succeed is bigger than that. If Winslow, Edwards & Bentley were all healthy, I still don't see them being more than an 8-8 or 9-7 team.

So the answer is, 'no, it's b/c they aren't good'.

Personally, my team (skins) is pretty good, have won a super bowl recently, and there is no rivalry with the browns... so I guess I can't be put in a neat box.

bn319, I would like to know what your problem with me is. Maybe you have me confused with somebody else. I searched for threads with the word "browns" in the title, and then searched the top 10 threads (here) for any posts made by me. The only posts I found were in the Browns tidbit thread where I jokingly trashed talked about the Raider game that was coming up, and the posts where I asked who the Browns would draft in a certain situation.

So honestly, where do you get this:

In defense of 27, the very first thing I thought of when I saw the title of this thread was "No. They just suck". He just beat me to the punch.

While the Browns do suck, they're certainly headed in the right direction with Savage and Crennel. It's going to take a few years to fix what was screwed up by Couch, Palmer and Butch Davis.
