I think NIL and conference additions burned Kelly and Fick. Kelly thought he could go into the bagmen SEC, the rules changed, so you don't need bagmen anymore, and the SEC advantage went away. Fick went to Wisconsin thinking he had an easy path to the Big Ten championship every year only to have the conference expand and the East/West go away, so he had to have one of the top 2 teams in the whole conference to have a shot.

LSU is not nearly as big of a school as tOSU.
y'all have more than double the amount of living alumni as LSU has.

LSU does however have one major booster worth somewhere north of $20 billion.
