Brian "Body Kount" Kelly (HC Louisiana State)

WELL, HERE'S A "BOLD" PREDICTION:

'I do not think he has a firm grasp on the locker room' Former Alabama player doesn't hold back on LSU's Brian Kelly

Former Alabama Crimson Tide running back Damien Harris, who is currently a college football analyst for CBS Sports after retiring from the NFL last year, thinks the 2025 season will be Brian Kelly's last as the head coach of the LSU Tigers.

Harris made the "bold prediction" for Kelly and the Tigers on the Until Saturday podcast this week.

One of the biggest reasons why Harris doesn't think Kelly will return to Baton Rouge after the 2025 season is because he doesn't think the former Notre Dame head coach fits the culture at LSU.

Harris also said that he doesn't think Kelly has a "firm grasp" on the Tigers' locker room.

"My fourth bold prediction for this season is that this should be Brian Kelly's last year at LSU," said Harris. "I do not think that he is the right fit. I do not think he fits the culture. I do not think that he has a firm grasp on the locker room. And I think that he has cost LSU some games. Not only this past season, but maybe in 2023 when they had Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas -- all three of those guys who were Offensive Rookie of the Year candidates, finalists this year at the NFL honors awards. And it was almost a waste of a season, especially Jayden Daniels with the Heisman that year. And they don't really have much to show for it, other than that Heisman in Jayden's trophy case at home.

"But when I talk about not winning them games, I'll give you a perfect example. We saw them lose to Texas A&M last year, and Marcel Reed had a phenomenal day. He ran the ball, he threw the ball, but most importantly, he was able to get a lot of things done with his legs. Then a couple weeks later, what happens? Alabama rolls into in Death Valley, they go to Tiger Stadium, and Jalen Milroe ran absolutely rampant. I mean, he looked like a Heisman Trophy finalist in that game because LSU made zero adjustments. They made zero attempt to try to stop the quarterback from using his legs. And that's exactly what had cost them a couple weeks before against Texas A&M. And to me, if I can look at things like that and identify as a coach, you're not making adjustments."

"People always talk about, let's find what we're good at and do it better," continued Harris. "And then let's find the things that we're not so good at and let's really focus on those things and get those two things that we do well that we can still improve on. There's no improvement there (for LSU). There's no movement, there's no scheme, there's no game plan......This guy, he doesn't fit with LSU to me. I don't see it. I've never believed in it. And I think the fact that he is not taking that jump, which when Brian Kelly was at Notre Dame in his third year, that's when he had his biggest jump. Then you look at the last two head coaches at LSU that won national championships, Ed [Orgeron] and Les Miles, they both won national championships in year three. And we look at what LSU just did this past year in their third year under Brian Kelly, like it's time to make some changes."
