Brian "Body Kount" Kelly (HC Louisiana State)

WELL, HERE'S A "BOLD" PREDICTION:

'I do not think he has a firm grasp on the locker room' Former Alabama player doesn't hold back on LSU's Brian Kelly

Former Alabama Crimson Tide running back Damien Harris, who is currently a college football analyst for CBS Sports after retiring from the NFL last year, thinks the 2025 season will be Brian Kelly's last as the head coach of the LSU Tigers.

Harris made the "bold prediction" for Kelly and the Tigers on the Until Saturday podcast this week.

One of the biggest reasons why Harris doesn't think Kelly will return to Baton Rouge after the 2025 season is because he doesn't think the former Notre Dame head coach fits the culture at LSU.

Harris also said that he doesn't think Kelly has a "firm grasp" on the Tigers' locker room.

"My fourth bold prediction for this season is that this should be Brian Kelly's last year at LSU," said Harris. "I do not think that he is the right fit. I do not think he fits the culture. I do not think that he has a firm grasp on the locker room. And I think that he has cost LSU some games. Not only this past season, but maybe in 2023 when they had Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas -- all three of those guys who were Offensive Rookie of the Year candidates, finalists this year at the NFL honors awards. And it was almost a waste of a season, especially Jayden Daniels with the Heisman that year. And they don't really have much to show for it, other than that Heisman in Jayden's trophy case at home.

"But when I talk about not winning them games, I'll give you a perfect example. We saw them lose to Texas A&M last year, and Marcel Reed had a phenomenal day. He ran the ball, he threw the ball, but most importantly, he was able to get a lot of things done with his legs. Then a couple weeks later, what happens? Alabama rolls into in Death Valley, they go to Tiger Stadium, and Jalen Milroe ran absolutely rampant. I mean, he looked like a Heisman Trophy finalist in that game because LSU made zero adjustments. They made zero attempt to try to stop the quarterback from using his legs. And that's exactly what had cost them a couple weeks before against Texas A&M. And to me, if I can look at things like that and identify as a coach, you're not making adjustments."

"People always talk about, let's find what we're good at and do it better," continued Harris. "And then let's find the things that we're not so good at and let's really focus on those things and get those two things that we do well that we can still improve on. There's no improvement there (for LSU). There's no movement, there's no scheme, there's no game plan......This guy, he doesn't fit with LSU to me. I don't see it. I've never believed in it. And I think the fact that he is not taking that jump, which when Brian Kelly was at Notre Dame in his third year, that's when he had his biggest jump. Then you look at the last two head coaches at LSU that won national championships, Ed [Orgeron] and Les Miles, they both won national championships in year three. And we look at what LSU just did this past year in their third year under Brian Kelly, like it's time to make some changes."

Ohio State football team could face an SEC team every year if one coach gets his way

One SEC coach is proposing that the league play a Big Ten team in a non-conference game every year.

The Ohio State football program does a pretty good job of scheduling at least one premier non-conference game a season. Last year was one of the few seasons in which that didn't happen, but they make up for that in 2025 with Texas coming to play the Buckeyes in the Shoe.

Other Big Ten teams don't take the same approach to scheduling, which is disappointing. Texas has taken that approach now that they are in the SEC, which is nice to see. They will play Michigan and Ohio State in back-to-back seasons in regular-season games.

LSU head coach Brian Kelly wants to see this happen more often. In fact, he wants the Big Ten and SEC to have games every single season. He is proposing that the SEC move to a nine-game conference schedule and that the Big Ten and SEC schedule one non-conference game against each other.

The Ohio State football team would play the SEC every year in Brian Kelly's proposal

In Kelly's proposal, the Buckeyes would be playing an SEC team in the regular season every single year. It would certainly create more excitement for college football fans across the country if both conferences were able to commit to a scheduling model like this.

A lot of SEC schools get criticized for their weak non-conference schedules year after year. It's refreshing that Kelly is looking to improve that by adding a Big Ten team to the schedule every single season. The Ohio State Buckeyes certainly have no issue playing SEC schools.

Ohio State is scheduled to play Texas, Georgia, and Alabama in home-and-homes in the next six years. They are clearly not afraid of these premier matchups, as they know it will help them prepare for Big Ten Conference games, as well as College Football Playoff games.

Lemme guess: Kelly wants LSU to play Rutgers, Mich State, Maryland and Nebraska!

I like the idea. I like making fun of Brian Kelly, but I like his idea.
Get the SEC and Big Ten to have the same number of teams. 16, 18, 20, 30, 50... whatever. Then match them up by how they ranked last year. Year 1, we'll play all the games in the SEC home stadiums. Play them in September. The next year, rank and match them up again, and play all of the games in the Big Ten home stadiums - in November.

I love this idea. Would make the regular season interesting again now that continuous playoff expansion will likely dilute it.

With relegation
I love this idea.

At this point if we’re going to totally revamp the entire system of how the season works, we might as well just go all in and tear it all down and make something new.

As it is currently structured, I really can’t get excited about college football because it’s still holding onto the Old too much while trying to force something new into it but it’s only been one year of expanded playoff so we’ll see where they go with it

But... but... how will Arkansas ever play another meaningful game if they are relegated to Subdivision E?
