ESPN

His passing records matter, but they don't define him. Favre wasn't about numbers, he was about letters: W or L. He played hurt. He played hard. He played in more snow than Iditarod dogs. By the time he was done, he had played in 253 consecutive regular-season games, 275 if you include the playoffs.
The NFL got a little less interesting Tuesday. You watched Favre for what he did and what he tried to do. You marveled at his complete and utter fearlessness. You shook your head in amazement when he made great plays and when he made bonehead plays.

Very true!

Clements, Campen Share Thoughts On Favre

Brett Favre's final position coach, quarterbacks coach Tom Clements, may have provided the best explanation yet for how Favre was able to put together one of his best seasons in his 17th, and what turned out to be final, year in the NFL.

"He had a steel-trap mind as far as football is concerned," Clements said Wednesday, speaking to a small group of reporters in the Lambeau Field Atrium. "He could look at something on film during the week and it could happen just like that in the game and he'd have instant recall of that."

great article dispelling the "greatness" of Vicodin boy.

ESPN - Overhyped: Favre didn't deliver in second half of career - NFL

We interrupt the continued deification of Brett Favre -- a first-ballot Hall of Famer and the most durable player in NFL history -- with the following reality check.

Yes, Favre played long enough to throw the most touchdown passes and collect the most wins by an NFL quarterback. But let's examine the second half of No. 4's career. The truth is, Favre did little over the past decade to earn the gushing praise heaped upon him by our fawning brethren in the media.

After beating the San Francisco 49ers in the 1997 NFC Championship Game, Favre won just three of his last 10 playoff games. Eli Manning had more postseason wins in a 29-day span this past season than Favre had in his last decade with the Green Bay Packers.

I think Bret Favre is overrated. Always have.

He couldn't carry Steve Young's jock. He may be one of the top 20 NFL QBs of all time; discussions of being in the top 5 are ridiculous. Tarkenton, Tittle, Unitas, Kelly, Conerly, Gabriel, Namath (yes, Joe Willie) -- these were all superior quarterbacks to this southern-fried cheesehead. Yet these outstanding field generals are relegated by ESPN to the background to this guy whose passing stats were inflated by the offense he played in. Does anyone really think that Kliff Kingsbury is one of the top 5 collegiate QBs of all time? Favre is the Kliff Kingsbury of the NFL.

Frankly, I hope the drama queen stays retired, but I doubt he will. Probably will play 5 more seasons with the Saints, or Falcons, or Texans.

Of course..There has to be at least 10 arm chair qb's on this site that are better then favre ever was...Aside from all the records or the fact he played 275 consecutive games let's disregard that and have a pizza
