Just as Bielema lost recruits who had verbally committed to
Wisconsin, I've seen a top recruit that verbally committed to Michigan State change his committment after Meyer poached him following his hire. It isn't fun. But Bielema addressed Meyer's tactics Wednesday on National Signing Day: From
TwinCities.com: "There's a few things that happened early on I made people be aware of that I didn't want to see in this league that I had seen take place at other leagues. Other recruiting tactics, other recruiting practices that are illegal. I was very up front and was very poignant to the fact. I actually reached out to Coach Meyer and shared my thoughts and concerns with him and the situation got rectified."
Thank you for speaking up, Bret.
I completely despise Meyer for going after recruits that had previously committed to other schools. It's dirty - there was once unspoken rule that if a recruit had committed verbally to play for a school within the conference, you stop going after that kid. Clearly Meyer wants to do things his way and everyone else is just going to have to deal with it.
