Brenton Cox Jr. (Dismissed DL Georgia Bulldogs, transfer to Florida)

Seems clear that Georgia has ground to make up.

And history shows that the home school usually has a decided advantage in doing so.

How much ground to make up? Hard to say. But, I'll say this. Kirby has yet to build a fence. And tOSU has had and continue to have success in the peach state. Plus Urban and LJsr so I like our chances. But I wouldn't be surprised at all if he stayed home because it happens all the time.
Has OSU really had that much success in the peach state? I feel like we've been going after GA players and coming up pretty empty for a while. There's been less than 10 players in the 2000s from GA to commit to o OSU if I can recall. Getting Emory Jones should help with some of that as well as getting Cox

10 kids(most high rated) out of an out of region southern state, with a historically successful state program and surrounded by Bama, Auburn, LSU, FLA, and TN?

I'd say that's pretty great for a northern school. Even one of our profile

18 since '99 by my count, 3rd most players from any state in the union... only behind Ohio and Florida

To be fair to pnuts, for awhile we were getting a lot of guys from GA that a lot of the SEC schools didn't have as priorities under Tressel. Some of them turned out excellent (i.e. Roby), some turned out alright (Andersen Russell) and some we barely knew (Antonio Henton, Keith Wells). Heyward was recruited pretty hard by the SEC schools and we pulled off the upset...and yeah, he turned out great. Enter Urban Meyer and you regularly see us landing top talent in GA, such as Trey Johnson (didn't pan out), Vonn Bell (star), Raekwon McMillan (star)...the lone reaches down there were in Collier and maybe Norwood (jury is out there, just have heard nothing on him).

Now you have Emory Jones committed, easily a top 5 player in the state, and of course we are in the mix of it for Cox, whom every SEC school wants badly. If we can pull Brenton from Georgia and the rest of the SEC, it would be an absolute coup.

UGA and OSU recruiting is going in two very different directions right now. Brenton has to be seeing that. And also watching as his his fellow top in state players are leaving at an alarming rate...
