Braylon Edwards (official drop thread)

I have no problem with his approach and wanting to get on the field. He is only going to get better with actual playing time. He did not call anyone out, except maybe the coaches, and obviously has a desire to win.

Of course, I want the Browns to lose the rest of their games this year to ensure a top 5 pick

I missed that one I guess, even though I agree with Edwards. I still wouldn't talk to the media about it. :wink2:

As of this week, I agree with him... I think they probably owed it to the fans to give Pittsburgh their best shot... but now... yeah... start Frye, oh, and Braylon... shut the fuck up and remember you're a rookie.

I agree that this interview, in itself, is a non-issue. The bigger problem is that Braylon recently suggested that this same QB should be benched in favor of a rookie. It's obvious that Dilfer favors Bryant and the tight ends. The deeper question is, why?

Let's face it, Trent is nearing the end of his career and can't afford any personal vendetas, is he wants to win. If he sees an open receiver, he will throw it in their direction. I think it's safe to say he's not intentionally sabotaging Braylon's stats. In fact, Edwards isn't even starting!

All of this leads me to the conclusion that either his work ethic has kept him from seeing the field as much this year (we know it's not talent) or maybe it's that he's not gained the confidence of his coach and teammates by making plays when he needs to, or doing the little things that shows he wants to win as opposed to putting up big numbers.

Either way, this is the kind of conversation that belongs in house. The fact that Crennel is publicly backing a washed up QB over a top draft pick should tell you all you need to know about the situation behind the scenes.

Edwards was on Best Damn last night, and reiterated his call for the ball. His criticism of Trent Dilfer was not explicit, but just like Terrell Owens, you see that he was pretty much throwing Dilfer under the bus.

Look, I agree with Edwards. We drafted him to make plays, and because Dilfer is not very good, he's not getting the ball. I would also like to see Charlie Frye. So I see his gripe, and understand his position.

But, you cannot call out a quarterback in the media like that. We've seen it with TO, and now we're seing it with Braylon. It's this me, me, me bullshit that shows that he has no respect for TEAM. If he wants the ball, take Trent out to lunch, kiss his ass, and make your argument to him. But now he's just dug himself a deeper hole with Romeo and with Trent - and with me, as if he gives a ....

What a week for him to make an ass of himself. FUCK MICHIGAN!!

if you look at edward's numbers compared to the other nfl rookie wr's drafted last year, he is just as productive.

however, for any cleveland fan to watch bryant drop at least one clutch pass a game, and northcut to drop just about anything, it's frustrating.

dilfer also has a very clear M.O. Look for Bryant, if he's not open, look for the TE. Unless the play is designed to go to edwards, dilfer rarely looks at him. i would be pissed as well. that being said, don't compound the situation by running your mouth. Crennell is certainly not one to tolerate that.

I have watched the majority of the Brown's games this year and Edwards does not get a lot of balls thrown in his direction. Now wether the reason is Edwards' route running or simply not being open, I would have to look at the film. But I can say that he needs to see the field more. Northcutt has been splitting time with Edwards so far and Northcutt dropped quite a few passes on Sunday night that should have been caught.

I don't think he is out of line saying he would like more chances to make plays, he didn't call anyone out really.

Ive been to two home games this year, and I could tell you that Edwards is open all the time, but Dilfer hardly even glances at the side of the field that Braylon is on.

Braylon Edwards (Official Thread)

Sorry if this had been posted already, I searched and couldn't find anything, but I thought this was a nice touch, but sadly, there were no pictures in the article to see this wonderful image. From benmaller.com.....

Browns rookie Braylon Edwards, the third-round pick from the University of Michigan, paid off his bet yesterday to Simon Fraser, the rookie defensive end from Ohio State. Edwards showed up wearing a scarlet Ohio State jersey with ''7,'' Ted Ginn's number, on the back. He also wore a scarlet Ohio State cap. Ohio State beat Michigan, 25-21, Nov. 19, and the bet was the loser had to wear the school jersey of the winner. Tight end Aaron Shea is also from Michigan. He was part of the bet, but so far no scarlet and gray. ''This is the first time I ever had an O State jersey, hat or anything on,'' Edwards said. ''This hurts. Obviously this isn't my school or my colors, but I'm a man of my word.'' Edwards said he chose the Ginn jersey because the only other choice was Justin Zwick.
