Not sure about that. We wouldn't have been ranked so low (and by that, I mean outside the top two) had we been eligible.

No way we bump either the defending national and SEC champ or the feel good wake up the echoes Notre Dame/Manti Teo storyline. SOS and "weak Big Ten" would have been the necessary justification.

So ND gets the wake the echoes hype but not Urban Meyer instantly turning rags into riches?

Yeah, pretty much. Not saying it's fair, but it's exactly how it would have gone down. The press was slobbering over a ND-Bama matchup. There's no bigger ND hater on the planet than me, but I'll readily admit that Ohio State (particularly in the aftermath of the scandal) is going to lose the battle for a NC spot to the domers every time unless the computers make it impossible. Had Ohio State rolled through a top-to-bottom tough and well respected Big Ten, it would have been much more difficult to have given it to them, but as it was, it would have been all too easy.

Verses those teams? I would not care if they were all winless. Victories over them are still the best. I don't think any osu fans were complaining about beating up on Rich Rod's [Mark May]ty teams.

We still get tired of hearing about those wins in the 1800s since that's all that's left for Michigan to hang their hat on.

This. Being ineligible last year saved Ohio State the embarrassment of being left out of the NCG despite being undefeated, but it still can happen if the Big Ten doesn't get its [Mark May] together.

No BCS conference team has ever not made it to the NCG while undefeated

Plus, don't forget Ohio's BCS team.

Yep, in 2009, they were #3 and in the Big East, which was an AQ BCS Conference at the time (although it probably shouldn't have been). The Jugggalos thought that if Texas had lost to Nebraska in the Big XII CCG, they would have made it to the Title game, but I think that TCU would have snuck ahead for the #2 spot in that scenario.

My whole point is that for those of you who take the approach of "I root for Michigan to lose every game" and "I could care less about the strength of the conference," things are reaching/have reached a tipping point where an undefeated Ohio State team could very well be left coming out of the bathroom holding nothing but their dicks if there are three viable candidates for the NC game, particularly in a year like this where we will not have a true marquee ooc game.

If it comes down to undefeated Alabama, Ohio State and Nike this year, who do you think the ESPN hype machine will be promoting to the voters? And a shitty Big Ten means that we can't counter that in the computers.

I'm saying be careful what you wish for.

Ehh, it's not going to matter after this season.

Still could. I mean yea if we're undefeated there's no doubt we'll be a top-4 team, but if we have one loss and battling for #4.....

Edit: Although I don't know how the selection committee works. Do they completely eliminate the CPU's? Even if they don't, I'm sure they look at SOS.

I just don't see an undefeated tOSU being left out. Had tOSU been eligible last year, I think it would've been tOSU vs Bama. Especially considering the espn hype machine would have nothing to gain by placing ND (NBC) ahead of tOSU (BTN), and in fact, could hurt their chances, however small they are, of picking up B1G games in a couple years. Until the day comes where an undefeated tOSU is bcs cock blocked, I don't see it as realistic.

Not that it really matters much after this season anyway. No matter how weak the B1G is perceived to be, there's no fucking way an undefeated B1G champ will not be in the top 4, imo.

No, it would have been OSU or Bama vs ND. No way it was going to be OSU vs Bama.

ND was at 0.9978; Bama was at 0.9441; ND was ranked #1 in every single category. Bama was anywhere from #2 to #4.

Whatever. My point was an undefeated tOSU would have been playing in the title game.
