Brady "XLLL" Hoke (Head Coach San Diego State)

Endowment is not a word that naturally comes to mind when thinking about Brady Hoke

Oh, I dunno...seems to me Brady is very well-endowed.

I'm guessing that's a C-cup, at least...

Just wanted to let everyone know that I've sold my naming rights to Highland Park Scotch Whisky.

Henceforth, please address me as "The Highland Park 18-year-old Single Malt Scotch Whisky MaxBuck." Failure to abide by this naming protocol will result in stern warnings and potential consequences from the Highland Park attorneys.

$10 million only pays Blokes salary for what, 2 years:

That is a heck of a deal on an endowment. (Still, I would sell my name for 2x my salary.)

Bloak has not passed up Brett Bielema yet, who made $1.7 million per win. Bloak only made a third of that, or $593 thousand per win. UFM made only $384/win, about equal to concession revenue per game in the Shoe.

Brady Hoke will be getting a new title: J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach.

The Harris family is donating $10 million to endow the position and make it the first such position among U-M coaches, assuming the university regents approve it at this week’s meeting.

Did they get Tressels permission to sell the naming rights for his property?

I remember from my last trip into Value City Arena, there's a wall with each athlete's headshot and a plaque underneath stating "scholarship donated by XXXXX" (or words to that effect). Anyone remember if that's done with the coaches as well? I have no problem with it, just don't publicize the thing like UM/Stanford. It reeks of DYKWIA.

Endowment in the offing for Michigan head coaching job

Stanford does it. So does Northwestern and Vanderbilt among others. In short order, Michigan could be headed down the same endowment path.

Pending approval from the university’s regents, Brady Hoke will officially be referred to as the J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach. The Board of Regents is expected to approve the move at a meeting Thursday.

The Harris family, through their foundation, donated $10 million recently for the “naming and endowment of the head football coach position.” The family’s foundation is a longstanding donor to the program specifically and the university in general, with the Detroit Free Press writing that they “previously had named the football locker room and ‘created scholarships, endowed professorships and provided support’ to the College of Literature, Science and the Arts, the Ross School of Business and the Ford School of Public Policy.”

Needless to say it would have been hilarious if some business like Blimpie Subs or Papa Johns Pizza had bought naming rights for scUM's football coach.
