Bracketology and Selection Sunday Discussion

I'm not as worried as I would have been last year against VCU - Russell, Scott, Thompson....we have an athletic backcourt that can run with VCU.

VCU lost PG Briante Weber for the season last month. They stumbled for a bit but won the A10 tournament today so they seem to have adjusted. If the Bucks can handle the press Slam Thompson could make his presence felt at the rim on breaks.

I'm glad they play fast. Getting into a slow out down game is way worse for OSU then playing up Tempo

Hearing the committee chairman talk about "the eye test" makes me cringe, given how many games basketball teams play over the season. It smacks of being overly impressed by a particular game or two, out of 35 or so.

Time to switch to ESPN and watch Vitale's head explode over small schools who didn't get at large bids.

North Florida is the only school from the Sunshine State to get a bid. :slappy:

I watched a lot of teams to prepare for winning that billion dollars:biggrin:. Having seen Texas and UCLA play, and Murray State and Colorado State and Temple, it really would've been a mistake to leave UCLA out for any of those teams by watching how they played recently. I agree with the Committee's use of the "eye test" to put in teams like UCLA and Texas as opposed to teams that are clearly visibly less talented that similarly lack quality wins.

At least OSU has a winnable first game. From having watched VCU, they are definitely a team that goes in spurts where they rely on turning teams over and hitting 3s. So handling the ball and making good decisions with it are key. That 6'6" center they have doesn't scare anybody with his height, that's for sure.

My worry is against any team with a pulse.
I was talking to my dad last night about my two boys basketball seasons (they're 7 and 9 respectively). They are not very good; even compared to other kids their age. Now when I am working with them out in the driveway, they show decent form for their age and act like they are getting it. Then game comes and they play like they have no clue what the ball is supposed to do and when they're on offense they guard their defender. It's so frustrating I can only laugh.

So I tell my dad, watching my boys play is like watching the Buckeyes play this year. We are supposed to be fun to watch, have talent and potential and at times have shown a semblance of belonging on the court. But at the end of most games I am just looking forward to the next season.

This sounds good. Go with a small lineup and let Tate go to work inside. We also need to Loving and/or Kam to start hitting some shots.
