It already is a trainwreck - Boston fans just don't know it yet.

The Celtics just mortgaged their future on three 30+ guys that have never made the NBA Finals. (and in Allen's case, he was lucky to ever see the playoffs). Neither player even so much as led their team to the playoffs in any of the past two years.

Their point guard (Rondo) couldn't win a 3rd grade 3-point shooting contest. Their shooting guard (Allen) couldn't guard my grandmother. Their small forward (Pierce) is an injury prone ballhog who gets destroyed every time he plays against someone superior athletically (See Lebron). They have no center AND ZERO BENCH.

And now, all of a sudden, they're the best team in the East according to some commentators? :slappy:

Come off it. They might make the playoffs, and may even win their weak division. But after two years of playoff fizzles, they'll be trying to start all over again with what they have left - which is now, of course, nothing.

Danny Ainge got taken to school on this trade.

They're already talking championship for these guys.

Check out last year's results from these guys though:

Paul Pierce: No playoffs
Ray Allen: No playoffs
Kevin Garnett: No playoffs

No playoffs + No playoffs + No playoffs + garbage = Championship?

The New Jersey Nets supposedely had three all-stars last year, and a better supporting cast than Boston has, and they were nowhere near championship-level. When this thing lands with a resounding "thud", it's gonna be uglier than the Pitino era.

That's exactly the team I was thinking of. A team of Kidd, Carter, and Jefferson should kick ass, but they didn't.

Last I saw neither PP, RA or KG was over the age of 32.

I know they all have alot of miles on them, but as long as they can play to the level they all have been playing, I see no reason why Boston cant make the finals coming out of the East, well outside of Chicago.

If they play the amount they have been playing, Boston's in the lottery

KG= 76 games
Allen= 55 games
Stabbie= 47

Doesn't matter. Neither player is who you want him to be - and they've all missed the playoff the last two years (which is fairly odd for supposed superstars). They are loners and mixing them together is going to be a worse disaster than the U.S. Pan-Am team.

I see plenty of other reasons why they can't make the finals out of the East:

1. Cleveland
2. Chicago
3. Detroit
4. Miami
5. Doc Rivers
6. Rajon Rondo
7. The rest of whatever Boston calls a bench.
8. Doc Rivers

Miami will make the playoffs. Getting out of the first round is another story though. The average age on that team has to be in the high twenties, and Wade is coming back from a serious injury, and he throws his body around recklessly, so they're one injury away from being completely irrelevent.

I'd replace Miami with Orlando and Charlotte, two eastern teams that will be much improved this year IMO.

I wouldn't be surprised if Boston doesn't even win their division. New Jersey still has a little less overall talent than Boston IMO, but NJ has a much better coach.

Basically, Boston just mortaged their future to be a five seed in the east and lose in the second round.

That's a possibility, considering Shaq doesn't even seem to care anymore. But I'd bet more on them than the Celtics not making the playoffs.

This situation smells too much like when people started speculation about the Nuggets chances after getting Iverson - and Denver still had a bench and a good coach.

If you're going to put superstars (and I use that term loosely when referring to Pierce or Allen) on the same team, basic principles of basketball still apply. You better either have a superhuman perimeter player (Jordan, James, Wade, Kobe), a savvy point guard (Parker, Nash, Magic, Isiah) or a dominant player on the block (Shaq, Duncan, Olajuwan). The Celtics have neither, which is why this is going to turn into a disaster.

Boston has not had a "future" for the past 15 years.

I for one am happy that Danny Ainge pulled this off so now us Celtic fans have something to cheer about and have hope for.

Thats all I have ever wanted since the late 80's was hope, and now I have it. Stop trying to fuck it up for me.

well they just signed eddie house, which isn't bad for the remaining money they have, but it is pretty comical that all ERdiie House is known for is his offense and penchant for firing up shots.......i cannot even imagine a scenario where House, Pierce and Allen could be on the court at the same time.....its possible a fight would break out for control of the ball
