Bosa, Marshall, Wilson, Smith Suspended for VaTech

So, who gets the time on the field now? Hubbard? Campbell or Dixon to go with Brown and Thomas?
I don't really care about our WR's that are suspended... the passing game is made from the QB delivering the ball, the OL protecting him, and the running game to open the passing game.
However, on Defense there couldn't have been a bigger blow IMO. You'll still have the 3 starters of Lewis-Schutt-Washington and if I were to guess that means Hubbard is going to be playing a ton (along with Slade/Holmes). I think we will be hurt more in the rush defense than in the pass rush to be honest and with that I'd assume we do some things with getting more players near the LOS that can help overcome that. With our secondary though I'm confident that we can put a extra man in the box and not have it come back to bite us.

On offense I think the only thing this does is make things easier on us for the first game IMO (not that it makes us better though, because it doesn't). The more I think about it the more I think we may potentially out think ourselves with trying to get certain players the ball and against a team like Vtech you just have to execute and not get cute. Braxton is three times the threat that any of the suspended are and while it's never a plus to lose players I think for this game it may play out well. Now you start leaning on Zeke, Braxton, Thomas, Brown, and use more double tight end looks which is what won us the trophy anyways. Against Hawaii and the rest of the Non-conference is the time to experiment with personnel/plays and with 3 of our top 6 receivers out no I think all this does is simplify our game. Simplify as in who's going to get touches but not as in becoming predictable.

Miller can take the place of Marshall and Wilson...and probably was going to anyway, so no problem. We still have Thomas and Brown at WR, and Vannett at TE...no problems on the receiving end. And we still have the best backfield in the country with Barrett/Jones and Elliot. The offense should not be affected much at all.

If Hubbard and/or Holmes are 85-90% of Bosa, we're still set on defense. I have a feeling that Lee will step up in the leadership role and have the defense ready to unleash absolute hell...

Lots of opportunity for dual threat QBs looking for another position...

Silver lining: keeps the team grounded, motivated and intensely focused in the face of early adversity.

This staff is very good at motivation and can almost certainly use this situation to that end.

I seem to recall something similar happening at the end of last season after a certain key player broke their ankle leading up to possibly the greatest three game run in the history of college football.
