Boise State 17, TCU 10 (final) Fiesta Bowl

I want to see how good they are against the big boys in conference play, when you have a week to prepare for teams, and may have to face a good team in back to back weeks

playing the big boys once a year in a bowl game when you have four weeks to put in as much bull[censored] plays as you possibly can is not a measure of a team as far as I'm concerned

Good point. Playing in a big conference is not just about records. It's about enduring a season. You may end up playing 3-4 straight tough physical games. chances of losing one or two are much much higher.

After Boise beat Oklahoma, Herbie made a statement about Boise going for 2-pt in OT. According to Herbie, Boise's coach was worried about keeping up with Oklahoma. Coach thought the best chance to win the game was to go for 2 and end it. Boise players were out of gas. 2009 Boise team may be different. But there are lots of IFs n BUTs.

Thank you for the speech. I've heard that on the TV too every now and then. I was just talking about this year and the title game.

I know. I agree with you. Which is why in response to your post I started out with a "Yeah" before I admittedly changed subjects a bit. The "yeah" was me trying to express agreement with what you said. I'll try to be clearer.

Just so I'm clear, the consensus is that they definitely don't deserve the title of "National Power?" That was the point of my original post reaction to them being dubbed a "national power." Do they deserve some respect? Of course. But "national power" status? Definitely not.

From group creator of Cowbell Girl on FB.....

Hey guys. I've received word that the band member has shared through her band director that she does not want the attention and wants it to all to blow over. So I am respecting her feelings and closing this group. The group was never created to make her feel bad in any way. It's been amazing that so many people joined in such a short period of time, and I know most of us had the best intentions. But I will respect her feelings and close the group. Thank you for your interest.

By the way, Wisconsin went 10-3 against that schedule, with losses to Ohio State, Iowa, and Northwestern. Do you really think that Boise State would not have equalled, perhaps exceded, Wisconsin's performance?

No quite frankly I don't.

There are plenty of truly pathetic programs in the BCS - Indiana, Minnesota, Illinois,
Yet those three "truly pathetic" Big 10 teams would have been three of the better teams on Boise State's schedule.

Yes Boise State would probably start out the Big 10 season gangbusters & become media darlings...but like some of those Big 10 brethren we like to tease so much (sparty being sparty) by the end of the season they would be a worn down wreck getting slapped around by teams that a lot of folks would have said had no business staying within 10 pts of the Broncos...let alone physically beating them down.
