I grew up near Bluffton, and went to many an open gym at Bluffton College. I didn't know anyone involved, but do know several people in the community, and know how close the community is. Horrible tragedy for these people. My thoughts are with them.
They are now reporting that a local kid was on the bus but that there is no info on his condition. No condition report this long after the accident has me a little concerned.
Another kid from Northwest Ohio and my hometown (Paulding), is presently undergoing surgery. No word as to the exact injury, but he did suffer head trauma.
I have only been to Bluffton once but I remember the people in a small diner there as being simple, open, and cheerful people. We will have prayers here tomorrow for people of all faiths on that bus and their families. This will have an incredibly bad impact on such a small town. Very sad.
I went to high school with AJ and Mike Ramthun (AJ did the interview this morning) and being from a small town this has been very scary. AJ seems to be ok physically but I have not heard much about Mike. I pray for all involved and their families and for Mike and AJ's parents who are great people.
That's terrible news. Apparently the driver mistook an exit ramp for a full lane.
Investigators said the driver apparently mistook an exit ramp for a lane and went into the curve at full speed. It was dark at the time, but the weather was clear.
What a terrible event. My heart goes out to the families of the deceased and the injured. This horrible accident coupled with yesterday's Tornado's has cost this country WAY too many young people. Makes you want to really count your blessings, and never take them for granted. Peace.
I live in Atl. and the HOV exit lanes are very hard to configure even in broad daylight. My prayers go out to these families. Northside drive exit is probably the worst unless you commute that route every day. The bus driver thought he could just continue on in the HOV lane as the highway is marked as such. DOT has some explaining to do.
